It's less likely to cannibalize hardware sales since it's not identical to the hardware and it's easy since they've already got code for both those things that runs on PC and Mac.
Great idea. I don’t think it’s likely as will be less of a revenue generator for Arturia. All Pigments updates so far have been free.
It is a good idea, though I can't imagine them giving it away for free. Maybe as an upgrade. I'd pay for that.

While it technically likely can be done, I think Pigments has more of a « detailed, sophisticated, nerdy » kind of oscillators where Freak’s ones are more on a « macro, immediate » kind of oscillators and so the 2 synths don’t target the same « experience »

Post

Some of the engines inside Pigments are similar to ones inside Freak but with less access to the deep controls (ie just 4 macros). eg the Harmonic engine but not sure if they are the same actual synth engine or not (probably not as the ones in Freak are I think the same as Braids?)

Post

I was so looking forward to getting this for november/during this year, but it's out of stock everywhere.. I'm really upset :(

I don't know what they've done with the two Freak synths, is the DSP just good, but the sound engines on MicroFreak sound really good to my ear. The WT territory is inaccessible to PolyBrute.

I just bought one from Guitar Center in Virginia, they have another one left. Good luck , they also have 130 more units coming in soon.

Hardly pretentious, it doesn't really have any useful synonyms. And it's definitely a standard military term, although usually abbreviated to "RV".

We call those "little boys" over here.
zerocrossing wrote: Thu Oct 20, 2022 4:24 amWell, Korg is selling the Wavestate and the Wavestate plugin. OpSix too.
But they weren't released at the same time. I'm sure they waited for hardware sales to plateau before they even thought about releasing the VSTis.

Unlikely, given that MiniFreak is mostly digital, the others are not.

I doubt I’d actually buy a MiniFreak plugin, so it’s no biggie.

Looks like it's now available to everyone. My intro offer is 69€ (I have V collection 8 and Pigments). Not bad, not bad at all.

Huh. That seems like a pretty quick change from them, like three months? Wonder why.

There's also an offer for €149 to upgrade from a lower V collection to v9 and get the synth as an added freebie

Even though they gave me a big discount bringing the price down to 49€, I'm still not sure about getting it. After demoing it seems like Pigments with better sequencer and less options overall. It sounds great and all, just seems a bit redundant in Arturia's repertoire. Someone please convince me so I can pointlessly spend money, thx

Somehow missed that. That's a pretty tempting deal as well. Though, knowing Arturia to get the best deal you need to skip a few versions and then upgrade. Decisions, decisions. I guess it's time to do some demoing.

I tried the Minifreak demo and compared it to the Pigments demo. I don't know if I would be interested in buying either one, as Hive, Icarus, Opsix, and even Warlock sound better (I like the Freak's sound a bit better than Pigments). At least Minifreak has consistent CPU usage compared to Pigments and seems more fun to play with.
