At this time, even if I have only to pay 49 Euros, I will not buy it. I will wait and see.
As one can guess, I have alot of arturia stuff, but the only one I like to play and dig is pigments.

So this is called MiniFreak V... does this mean it will be bundled in V Collection 10 when that's released?

IMO, this is a good 'another' review. I've noticed the weak output and some other negative points. I will write another post regarding them later today.BONES wrote: Thu Jan 19, 2023 1:51 pm Well I spent another 1.5 demo sessions with it tonight, tweaking it from the INIT patch, and I am perhaps more underwhelmed than I was yesterday. There is literally nothing about it I find impressive. The different oscillator algorithms did nothing for me. The obvious point of comparison for me is TRK-01, which straight out of the box feels like it has more to offer from its five "engines" (except polyphony, of course) and it's free. Side-by-side, it blows MiniFreak's sound out of the water.
The output on MiniFreak is also extremely quiet, which probably does it no favours. I also thought the distortion effect was ridiculously tame, no matter how much I tried to drive it, to the point of being useless. The chorus is nice, though.
Again, the overall impression was of a bad 90s ROMpler. The bottom end is almost non-existent in most of the patches, although some can be coaxed out of it if you try hard enough. I just can't work out why you'd bother when there are so many better, cheaper options out there to work with.
So after 2.5 demo sessions, I'd wasted enough time and uninstalled it. I noticed that I currently have none of the 9 Arutira products I own installed, which is a bit sad, I suppose, although I never paid anywhere near full price for any of them. We never used any of them in any of our songs so it's not like I need them.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Why does weak outputs matter on a virtual instrument?

I would have thought this would be a plus given every Synth and mostly every preset ever made feeling the need to redline everything because louder = better, less gain staging hassle if it's already at a decent level

It should be 'normal' not so hot and not so weak! (Compared to other synths). Anyway, it does seem without effects/unison ... etc. I will check it later.
