H-Reverb is my goto favorite. It's not particularly exotic, but it gets the job done (with detailed editing options) without calling too much attention to itself which is my preference for a reverb.

I particularly like the expanded controls which may look overly complex at first glance -- but once you get to know it, you can shape your reverb to perfectly fit your track. It has the option of tempo based echoes, integrated EQ, analog/digital options, drive, and built-in ducking.

An older hybrid - reverb by Waves, some people still seem to enjoy a bit. https://www.waves.com/plugins/h-reverb- ... for-vocals

One of the most complete reverb tools.
If your on a budget this would be a quite good choice.
You do not really need another reverb.
(except you are a gear sl*t)

Agree, its indeed a bit dated.

Therefore it's the perfect match for a white old man like me...

Arts Acoustic is good but will set you back $100. I also love the one in the Virus C which is close to AA. I always use Valhalla because it sounds great and the CPU hit is minimal. The new one from FL is called Luxeverb and it's gorgeous but it's an add-on for $79.00.

I've become dependent on Tai Chi for the early reflections, though I tend to mix them with things like Blackhole for the tail. It would be nice if I achieve comparable results with non-iLok plugins. I wonder if there are any other particularly good early reflection modellers?

Very good one. But if it had same modulation as in Raum or Valhalla...

OrilRiver is definitely one of the best free reverbs. Very luch, never metallic.
