MPE testing. Yes, you can build a 16-voice synth in Softube Modular if you want....

Why should it be more restrictive?geronimo wrote: Mon Oct 31, 2022 11:16 am For this question ( 2 voice polyphonic synth + two filters), this makes me think of using the Model 82 VST versions in a Combinator REASON; there, it's more comfortable and less restrictive than with the Softube Modulator.
Think outside the box (well, if Reason is your main DAW, you already do), this also keeps the patch small and clean....

And the final result....poltergeistcro wrote: Sun Oct 30, 2022 5:27 pmEDIT: Ok, I think I made it! Plays chords like I wanted it to do. Any more suggestions how can I expand this patch? I have almost all Modular modules. I'm interested in doing some more atonal stuff with it and would maybe consider changing the midi notes coming in with something more of like cv without proper tuning. (hope you understand, this world is new to me)
I always like the MOD on Model 82 that can do 1/16 random pitch on the VCO.

Has there been anymore Softube modular banks ? any new third party ones that anyone is aware of ?
I still find it hard to program so would be good to buy some.
I saw theres that guy who made them a few years back but these were not right for my needs. link here for anyone who wants them

Well, my main interest is to share knowledge and give inspiration. In general, I don't see myself as someone who supplies other people with presets. That doesn't mean, I'm not willing to share selected patches.JUSTINO wrote: Fri Jan 20, 2023 9:33 pmIF SOMEONE DID A SHIT HOT SELECTION I RECON SOMEONE WOULD BUY THEM ESP IF YOU SELL THEM FOR £1 FOR 100 PATCHES
It wouldn't make much sense to me from a commercial point of view either. A lot of work, for a relatively small amount of money.
I know patchstorage primarily as a source for VCV Rack patches. I take a look at it.JUSTINO wrote: Fri Jan 20, 2023 9:33 pmWHY HAS VCV RACK GOT SO MANY PATCHES ( 6108 PATCHES ON PATCH STORAGE ) ANYONE CAN GRAB THEM !

I agree. I find Softube Modular hard to grip. I´d love for people to make great ready patches and I´d buy them in an instant.JUSTINO wrote: Fri Jan 20, 2023 9:33 pm no i am not a customer !

I don't necessarily find Softube Modular hard to grip, I find modulars hard to grip
. I am sure if I took the time I can learn how they work properly, but I don't really have an interest in that.
I often buy modules I don't need so I can get access to more softube patches for it.
I too would love third party banks available for purchase.
But the issue becomes, different people have different modules and combinations of modules..
Who does the Third party Sound designer develop patches for? The least common denominator (that is only the modules that come with it?)

first is the problem already addressed: the modules one has.
and secondly, but it is not written in stone, a modular or soft modular with patch banks, well for learning perhaps...
but it seems a modular is made for patching yourself, learning from it to make better... patches..
in a way a part of the experience.
but that does not mean, of course if you like great sounds from it, that they already exist... that it is forbidden...
but patches for soft modulars will always be difficult.

Rastkovic has done some good work - i came accoss your recent stuff on youtube - zombie nation .. how hard man !!! cool.
I was aware of your stuff when i got into softube about 18 months ago -
I can do some basic patching but nothing more ( in all that time ) - i dont want to spend all my time on modular - its so hard and loads of the wires i plug in just end up cutting out all the sound or end up doing nothing ( as its guesswork )
anyway Rastkovic I dont want you to give away your hard work , its yours dude - and its good - but you must appreciate how hard it is to figure out - like man you plug in the 4ms and man , it doesnt do anything ! its such hit or miss stuff - just guess work ...
I came back hoping to find some 3rd party banks were out - but there are none , other than that guy i quote above , but his stuff is old now.
I dont think softube will ever put out many more presets - maybe they will add some - dunno
I can alter the patches what are on there , but take the model d rework in modular - the presets are really limited and not that great - the model d modules do sound good , but it would be good if they added a lot more of them.

For those who want polyphony, in Bitwig you can make an instrument selector set to round robin, and each note will go to a separate vst instance, with each instance tracking each note's pitch and other expression separately if you have MPE or aftertouch. Even though the CPU hit may be more, I find it much easier to quickly build poly patches out of mono instruments this way. Each instrument should be assigned to a different cpu core by default, as well. If the cpu hit is truly too much, bouncing to audio in Bitwig nondestructively to the original midi is simple.

My Industrial Rytm patch is now available - for free - at Patchstorage. The original patch with Model 72 filter and another version with basic modules-only. For those who don’t own the Model 72 plugin.
