I was lucky enough to meet David Crosby about 25 years ago at a concert he was performing with his band, CPR. I got his autograph and shook his hand. He had the softest hands I've ever felt on anyone. It's funny I still remember that.
I got to see (not meet) Roger McGuinn perform around that time as well.
I count watching David Crosby performing 8 Mile High and Ohio as one of the highlights of my long and storied concert-going youth. May he rest in peace!

Oh my, one of my favorite musicians; his first
solo album had such a profound influence on me during my 16th summer of 1971 (along with the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane).
When I was 15 I wrote a song called 'I'm gonna let my beard grow' in direct imitation of 'almost cut my hair' from deja vu..anyway I'm rocking out in my room with my guitar and wailing away and my dad walks in..just embarrassing me, he thought the song and I guess the premise of me having a beard was funny.
Anyway, rest in peace

very difficult to bear. several of his songs and experiments are among my favourites of all times. his first "solo" album is an out of this world experience, CSN's first album and CSNY's Deja Vu are essential recordings, imo.
may David Crosby rest in peace

I think many of us were unaware that he was Floyd Crosby's son.

Floyd's other son sadly took his own life.During his career, Floyd Crosby was involved in the cinematography of more than 100 full-length movies. He won the 1931 Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on the film Tabu: A Story of the South Seas. He was also the cinematographer on High Noon (1952), for which he won a Golden Globe Award
RIPCrosby's brother Ethan, who taught him to play guitar and started his musical career with him, killed himself in late 1997 or early 1998; the date is unknown because Ethan left a note not to search for his body but to let him return to the earth.

He was a great inspiration. I left my high-school grad party early, drove down by a river with an acoustic, and played The Lee Shore, Guinnevere and other of the Crosby Stills & Nash/Byrds/Buffalo Springfield collection, as best I could. It was a hot spring night, monsoon rains, so played in the car with the windows cracked to let the howling winds accompany.
I'd swear there was somebody there.
He has a fine autobiography, "Long Time Gone", for the readers among us. Your USA county library may have a copy. Covers his time in prison, among other adventures. Or

Pretty sure that we saw them on their final tour, October, 2015. IIRC, Crosby pissed off Nash in early 2016, who then said he wanted nothing further to do with him. I suspect, like he did with Neil, that he called him out for dumping his wife for a younger woman.
Anyway. Dave covered most of Stills' vocals as his voice is gone.
Oct, 2015.
