To end this rumor here I have asked this question at the source and reflex belongs to the grounding fathers...
If you don´t think he´s a liar then just look at his answer (I couldn´t write "Fruity Loops" in this forum as it was automatically turned into "FL Studio" by autocorrection!): .
Case closed!

FL Studio was definitely not sold as a new product vs. Fruity Loops.
I suspect that BenfordLaw is confusing the transition of Fruity Loops to FL Studio with the introduction of FL's pricing tiers. I don't remember how those were structured pre-FL-Studio, but I can imagine that when they were introduced, some people may have been pissed off when they didn't automatically end up on the higher/highest tier.

On this topic, no-one had to buy FL Studio again.
We added audio tracks, and introduced it in a higher value product - Producer Edition. We designated the current older version's feature set as - Fruity Edition.
The cost to upgrade was $39, also hardly a lot of money.
People were welcome to stick with Fruityloops > Fruity Edition and pay nothing extra to this day.
We also introduced Signature and All Plugins Editions. Similar idea - more features for more money.
We sleep pretty well at night looking at all the free stuff we have given our customers in the last 25 years. Every Edition, including Fruity has gained new features ( Automation Clips for example ) and many new plugins.

And I bet you sleep even better after you have banned forum members daring to criticize IL and their products, don‘t you!?Image-Line wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 10:47 am On this topic, no-one had to buy FL Studio again.

No. I got the the boxed version (don't remember version, but ages ago), and never had to pay for an update. I'd like to know more about a previous post about 'Fruity Tracks'. Never heard of it.

I don´t know what happened to you and what the actual reason was but I dared already multiples times to heavily criticize them and I am still there...
Perhaps you violated some other rules....

In my experience IL are quite, and probably too tolerant of rude behaviour, trolling, and entitled ass-hattery in their forums. If you were banned from them, "criticizing them" definitely wasn't the only reason for it.

I'm also not sure what happened here, but I might not be able to connect the username here to a username in the IL forums.
It takes a lot to get banned, and even when banned, the access to techsupport is not taken away.
And there is also a clear difference between critique and just talking everything down and/or bad behaviour against other users/team members (not connected to you or anyone here, just overall).
There is still a limit that should not be crossed, regardless of user or team.
