for those of you who like the Roland systems but don't like the idea of putting a pickup on your favorite axe, and don't have the bucks to buy one of Brian Moore's or Godin's GK-2 compatible systems, there's a new solution out.
This company from Canada called Switch is now manufacturing a line of Roland-ready guitars with the pickup and switching built-in. Starting at around $499 for a model with one humbucker and a fixed bridge, they also have some other models with different pickup configurations. All you need is one of Roland's GK-series synths or BOSS' GK stompboxes and you're set.
What also makes these axes different is that they're cast in one piece from polyurethane resin (they call it "Vibracell").
I'm planning to sometime in the next few days to try to find one of these and put it through its paces.
