Sample editing and software tools questions,

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of questions:

Q1: I am trying to balance the samples for a SF I want to create so I should normalise them right?

The problem is that there is too much difference in some of the volumes to have the levels right, some samples are still way quieter than the others.

Is there another process or tool I can use to get the samples in better balance with each other or do I just have to do it manually before I do the normalisation?

Q2: Is there a program, preferably free to detect the root note of wave files and insert it automagically?

Any help is appreciated,

BTW I am using Cool Eddit Pro 2 and Awave 9.1
