I've heard of vst to au converters to let mac users enjoy vst or whatever... but i want AU to VST converters so i can enjoy mac plugins on my pc. So the question is is there a converter like that out there? and if not, why the hell not?

That would be much harder to create. You are not "just" adding a wrapper to a piece of software, to translate some incoming and outgoing data. You would also have to emulate the processor and operating system of a Mac, on a PC! If you managed to write something like this, it would run very slowly. I doubt you would have enough processor power to get anything serious accomplished in real time.
Why don't you just network a Mac running the AU software in question, to a PC which is running non-AU software? It would actually be easier, and much more efficient.

ta for the reply, but i still dont get it... well i get it but in my head i can see it working.. then again i know nothing about programming so i guess i'll just leave it there.
Regards to your suggestion to network a mac and pc, well i dont have access to a mac, and i'm REALLY not interested in a mac, or any additional pcs.. i'm just after the plugins, thats all. I feel frustrated that some companies just focus on one platform only... blah

You might not be interested in getting a Mac, but that is really the best and easiest way for you to access the plugins that are written exclusively for a Mac.mark77 wrote:Regards to your suggestion to network a mac and pc, well i dont have access to a mac, and i'm REALLY not interested in a mac, or any additional pcs.. i'm just after the plugins, thats all. As for companies that don't write for both platforms, that can be a bit of an disappointment. However if it's a small company, I can be more understanding. It can take a lot of effort and expertise to properly port a piece of software from one platform to another. It can take a lot of time, money, and manpower to do the porting and then maintain the software throughout it's development life. Some small companies simply can't justify the expense.
On the other hand, you have Apple buying companies and killing the distribution of all the PC software they used to sell. eMagic is one example. That's a more annoying concept, in my opinion. Killing software that still has an active user base is a very frustrating thing to do to people, especially if you're a large company with the resources to properly continue supporting those customers--if you only wanted to do so.
