Hi, no that's worse that what I explain above. I want to hold one note, then play another on and of and the note to "walk" up and down. That is fine, but the envelope generator doesn't retrigger, Please, try what I said.Branis wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 2:56 pmSet the polyphony to Poly and 1 voice to retrigger the envelope, but keep the synth monophonicBiome_Digital wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 10:42 am Can anyone confirm this? - The envelope (new envelope generator, not AMP env.) does not RETRIGGER filter modulation.
How to try: Set synth to MONO. Add a NEW envelope and assign to filter cutoff. Hold a key and play other keys while always holding the first key down.
The filter modulation shows the envelope opening on each key press, but the SOUND does not!
You can try the same thing with an LFO acting as an envelope and it DOES retrigger the filter. So is this a bug? Or a setting I have missed?

So you actually want the filter envelope to retrigger both when you press a second note while holding the first one and when you release the second note while still holding the first one?Biome_Digital wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 3:07 pmHi, no that's worse that what I explain above. Nice. I’m at 36546, so I’ll at least demo it.Daru925 wrote: Tue Feb 07, 2023 4:20 pm Makes sense to me to release a synth that ties all the FF ecosystem and workflow together.
You get a bit of every fabfilter product in one nice package.
Sure if you have already 36547 different synths might not be for you.

Mono mode is behaving exactly as it should. What you are really asking for is a way to turn off legato while in Mono. There is no setting for this but you can get exactly this result by setting it to Poly, single voice, as Branis notes above.Biome_Digital wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 3:07 pm Hi, no that's worse that what I explain above. There's no in-between these two alternatives. You either want to play in Mono with legato, where the envelope does not retrigger while an existing note is held down, or you do not. You can't have it both ways. It's a contradiction.
And if you still want to hear the note you are holding down, then you don't want Mono at all.

Sorry no, that's not it. I can do exactly what I say in Serum and works correctly.teilo wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 3:37 pmMono mode is behaving exactly as it should. Did you follow my steps In the first post? The filter envelope doesn't retrigger as expected. Please try it, try the same thing in serum.
In Twin 3 the graphical modulation of the filter "SHOWS" the envelope retriggering, but you don't hear it.

I've tried it in Serum, Avenger, and DIVA. ALL filter envelopes retrigger when playing how I described. TWIN doesn't. So maybe there is a setting somewhere, but the envelope generator isn't re-triggering when playing like this, all the other synths do.
It would be great if someone could actually try what I said, compare it to another synth like serum.

The Mono mode in Twin is exactly equivalent to the Legato mode in Serum, and Diva. In Twin, Poly set at 1 voice is exactly equivalent to Mono mode in Serum and Diva, and in Avenger with OSC voices set to 1.
Avenger doesn't seem to have a Legato mode.
I don't think you understand what Mono and Legato are.

"Mono" in Twin3 behaves like "Legato" in u-he synths, while modulation is actually displayed as "mono" (modulation retriggers visually, but won't sound like it appears)
LFO has options for Off, Retrigger and Legato.
Envelope SOUNDS like "legato" but displays as "retrigger".
Mono mode appears broken. (Visually)
no, he's right.teilo wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 4:10 pmSorry. You're just wrong here. I have tried all of what I mention in all those synths. Envelope APPEARS as if it's retriggering; set AD without sustain to filter, you can visually see filter opening, but it does not SOUND like its opening.
It's confusing, it should either be legato and not APPEAR as retriggering or it should SOUND like it LOOKS (like it's retriggering).
And yes you're right, Poly with 1 voice retriggers the envelope VISUALLY and SONICALLY.
So it's a purely visual bug as it appears.

Also, Avenger does have Legato. It's in the Pitch tab.
Honestly, I was not paying attention to the visuals, but the sound. Aside from the visuals, the synth is working exactly as it should. They should fix this, but I really don't care that much about a visual bug like this. The audio is what matters.

Yes and no actually, it still doesn't "bounce" to and from a held note like all the other synths I mentioned.

What are you talking about? There is no such thing as a "held note" in Mono and Legato. There's only the currently playing note, and whether or not the envelopes retrigger when you play it. Not in Diva, Serum, or Avenger.Biome_Digital wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 4:24 pm Yes and no actually, it still doesn't "bounce" to and from a held note like all the other synths I mentioned.

No it's not though, the sound is NOT retriggering like I explained. Hold a key (keep it held down) now play another (higher) key, on-off-on-off. The note played should alternate between the 2 keys, like C-D-C-D-C-D - with the filter being triggered (plucked) on every note. I just can not get TWIN to do this. It is a problem when you are playing fast.teilo wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 4:21 pmHe's not right. Finally you are making sense. That is not what you have been saying. This is not about envelope retriggering. In single note Poly, as soon as you play a second note, it will not return to the first note when you release the second note. So single note Poly in Twin is not equivalent to Mono in Diva and Serum in that regard. You are correct. But this is also the case in Twin 2. To get this behavior, Twin 3 would need separate Legato and Mono options.
So there's nothing wrong with what Twin 3 is doing. It's just not a supported voicing mode. This would be a feature request.
