Erica Synths x Ninja Tune has turned its characterful Zen Delay effect pedal into a macOS/Windows plugin with extra goodies
It's 99€ +tax intro (regular 149€ +tax) and requires iLok

As a hardware zen delay owner, this plugin is a joke and an insult.

As a hardware owner, I knew it was always possible since it’s a digital delay with analog filter/tube overdrive.
There’s still something to be said for using the hardware version and making use of the filter/drive but… This sounds very much like the real deal.
I don’t have another delay like it in software form, and they added sample rate/bit depth, noise controls and modulation options that the hardware version doesn’t have.
I know everyone has tons of delays, but if I didn’t already own the hardware one, I’d buy this immediately.
If you’re looking for set-it & forget-it setting, then please go back to your vanilla delay because this delay is an instrument. Congrats on paying much less than buying the hardware!
From Jamuary (made/finished same day) Zen Delay was basically the driving force of this track:

I’m surprised this one isn’t being discussed more!

What does it do that can't be done in other delays? I'm not familiar with the hardware, but with some modulation and such most delays can quickly become "instruments". It sounds good in that demo track for sure.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

To me the biggest difference is the scaled timing that allows for it to be musical in different ways at different delay times. Most delays I have require fine tuning at short delay times, or don’t sound well when switching from extremely short to long delay times.Ah_Dziz wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 10:05 pm What does it do that can't be done in other delays? Next is the drive. I don’t know how well it is on the plug-in and I’ve watched Stimming’s review where he didn’t like the drive, but I love how crunchy it can get.
Next, a big difference with the plug-in version over the hardware is the adjustable sample rate and bit depth.
The shorter version is it’s worth trying the demo.
If you do like it, I would imagine it’s excel at a Midi assignment to a controller for the time and feedback controls.

I have yet to meet the virtual valve that sounds better than the real thing imo.

I own the hardware which I love and I guess I love the plug in version as much.
It sounds a bit different for obvious reasons, but the vibe is totally there and the extras the plug in provides make up for it.
Automating and modulating it gives an extra dimension.
Good job Erica Synths !

I don't have the Zen hardware, but I do have an Acidbox3, and the resonance in the plugin does NOT sound the same, nor does driving it hard.pekbro wrote: Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:35 amI have yet to meet the virtual valve that sounds better than the real thing imo.![]()
If it was $50 on intro, or maybe even $75, I'd get it immediately despite having infinite delay plugins already.
A list of $150 is kind of silly, but I suppose they're going for "boutique plugins" like their boutique hardware. The delay, from the time I've used it as a demo, is not $150 good to me. Definitely for the Zen Delay fans.
I'm happy to see some ES plugins on the market, though!

exactly the same here !vitocorleone123 wrote: Fri Feb 10, 2023 3:58 pm If it was $50 on intro, or maybe even $75, I'd get it immediately despite having infinite delay plugins already.
another missed opportunity to sell something new, to kind of just about everybody.
it just won´t work out that way for that price.
They should bring the delay engine as such to VCV RAck ! ...incl. patchpoints.
Now, that would be something.
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.
