And people seem to either love or hate Fab's character filters (in the case of Volcano as well)
Volcano is my main filter FX plugin, I just don't know that good filters alone are enough to make me buy (and invest time to learn) Twin3. If FF ever jump on the CLAP bandwagon and unlock Volcano as a polyphonic FX, I'd be all over that. Any synth I didn't like the character/variety/whatever of, but has features and sonic character I do like, I could just slap a Volcano after it and modulate with Bitwig's modulators, boom!
While it is theoretically possible, I have my doubts that CLAP will ever do poly FX in any practical usable way. Not even Bitwig has that option. The voice routing becomes very complex, and breaks the models of most synths, which sum voices before internal FX and the final amp output stage. Way too many issues with this idea.
That is a question, which I was too lazy too ask until now: does CLAP offer the opportunity to route poly-voices through the plugins or not? Because this would be a complete game-changer.

I don't find it "simple" - with all the modulation and the filters. I'd put it more toward the middle of the spectrum, between simple and complex.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I knew it would be good but it's definitely exceeded my expectations.

Upgraded my Twin to ver 3. Most entertaining and funny, intuitive UI.

Really? I found the UI to be anything but intuitive. I figured it out quickly enough, but there were a lot of moments where I was thinking, “where is…”

I’ve been a professional UI designer for 20 years with a lot of experience watching people test various products, and I can assure you that few people who didn’t use a lot of Fab Filter products would have an easy time figuring that out. I’ll not go into details, as I only do that when on a payroll, but I could easily make a few changes that would go a long way towards making it a better experience.

Quite agree. Although the order of the FX might be different under the covers. The manual doesn't say one way or the other. Even if the order is that of the UI, is it top-L, top-R, middle-L ... or is it column 1 down then column 2 down?

Either way, though, placing reverb first makes no sense to me at all.

I think they are in parallel.

I think the manual says the Drive is applied before or after the FX and the Compression at last.
That seems to be the only description regarding an FX order.
So, I would conclude that indeed the 4 FX are Parallel...

Dude, your 20 years as a UI designer doesn't somehow invalidate someone else's opinion that the UI is intuitive. Maybe the other poster is one of the chosen few you mentioned who doesn't use FF products and got it. Maybe they've got the whole catalog. Or maybe they just read the manual. Remember those? FF makes decent ones.

You’re changing the point. I never said it was unlearnable. I said it was not intuitive. Of course, you can figure anything out with a manual. That’s very different than something like Icarus, which is very intuitive to use for the most part. I’ve never once had to read a manual or watch some tutorial video on Icarus, but instantly I felt stuck on how to do basic things with Twin 3, and I’ve been using synthesizers since the 80s. Just go though this thread. There are tons of criticisms about the interface. If it were intuitive, you’d find almost none.

not being able to re-order the FX is a design mistake. i don't see the point of adding more FX to the plugin if they have this restriction. seems more like a bug than by-design.

They did implement a lot of fixes I suggested. The problem with somebody like me is that I could probably find more things to add forever. At some point you just have to call it quits and say "Nope. No more changes".

They also clearly had a very different idea for Twin 3 than I was hoping. I can now see that some people really like the way Twin 3 is quite simple and very reminiscent of the Twin 2 feature set. As a tweaker I'm very seldom phased by too many options. More is always more for me.. but that's not true for everybody. For many people less can be more.. but those people are nuts. :hihi: :P

Still, I do wish it had a few more bells and whistles. Especially relatively obvious things like the possibility to reorder the FX, more triggering options for the various mod sources and some basic additional mod things like a flipflop mode for incoming midi messages.
Oh it could have tons more stuff and still be a relatively simple synth.

You can change DRIVE to pre or post FX too.
