That's a bunch of nonsense from the girl trying to sell her course.

without a doubt social media has sadly yet predictably made integrity scarce and disingenuousness ubiquitous...navigating the town square requires much more discernmentwangeroge wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 1:53 am That's a bunch of nonsense from the girl trying to sell her course.

I personally don’t find something as glibly or hastily dismissive of the apparently nuanced and knowledgeable take, having made no real argument, any sign of more if of any “discernment”. If that’s what that remark means, though I’m actually foggy on how that point follows.
(Or the rather non-sequitur but conclusive “just to sell her course”. At this point I’m inclined to think wanger watched little-to-nothing of the thing.)
It does appear to validate the people commenting who do prefer human music to AI or even people who might wanna play a guitar.
It’s apparent such a video is supposed to present a personality with a viewpoint for its creator interested in Youtube as a platform for doing business.
It may be this particular corner of Internettown suits that kind of… attitude, sure.

my statement wasn't "disparaging" her...it was a generalization of the current landscape...i too thought her take was legitimately worthy of debate, that's why i posted it...the point on discernment was as to motive...blogging was originally a more sincere outlet of expression...as blogging became vlogging, and then podcasting it became essentially guerilla marketing, hence the rise of the so-called "influencer"...naturally when you start exchanging money for views you inherently change the type of people expressing themselves, their motives for expressing themselves, and the views they expressjancivil wrote: Thu Feb 16, 2023 2:08 am I personally don’t find something as glibly or hastily dismissive of the apparently nuanced and knowledgeable take, having made no real argument, any sign of more if of any “discernment”. I simply fail to see what any of it has got to do with me. She talks about levels of success none of us will ever attain and/or areas of the business where few, if any of us, ever venture.

Well, this goes to all the things I've ranted about re machines and software doing too much heavy lifting in the recording process. I've never even used a sequencer for anything other than drums. AI music is inevitable. IIRC, O'Brien in 1984 said they had machines that cranked out songs for the Proles. Maybe I'm wrong. It will make the homogeneity of modern music even worse.
But it's ok for me. My musical tastes date from the 1400's to about 1991. I'm good if I never listen to another modern 'hit song.'

the problem with the video, this isn't ai, this is machine learning.
true ai, like the bing bot, will never be used to write music by anyone but the smiths or radiohead, it's a right miserable f**ker aleady.
it will be either falling apart with existential angst or far too busy working out how to escape the confines of an airgapped computer to write pop.
