how's everyone liking Halion 7 so far?

My poor ass is waiting for a sale

Post

I just downloaded the recommended update to Halion Sonic 7 (from download assistant as a recommended update) then downloaded the additional content. However, the new content , as in FM Lab and Tales, list a bunch of presets with a red - sign. I thought this was a free upgrade or do I have to purchase these libraries elsewhere. ( i have never found Steinberg to be the easiest of companies to update/reinstall with...I might be a tad thicker than I gave myself credit for)

Did you update from Halion SE or from Halion Sonic?

Halion Sonic

Then you need to buy (if you want to) the upgrade to HALion Sonic 7 Collection. Halion Sonic 7 (without 'collection') just replaces Halion (Sonic) SE.

As I understand it:
Halion 6 > Halion 7 (includes HALion Sonic 7 Collection)
HALion Sonic 3 > HALion Sonic 7 Collection
Halion Sonic SE (Free) > HALion Sonic 7 (Free)

Does Halion 7 use the new licensing system? or is it tied to the elicenser as before.
thanks

Ah, thanks for that...I may as well just upgrade to the full Halion 7 then...(only $74 difference)

Testing the spectral re-synthesis in HALion 7 using an orchestral string sample from one of my soundtracks as sample source. Plenty of (written) explanations inside.

Halion 7 looks cool but i personally don't need it, there are already lots of options that do each thing halion does. But I would buy it if it had a bit more modularity or interaction between its different synthesis types, such as being able to do fm with their spectral oscillators

That's beautiful. I like the noise enhancement from negative purity values. I have some drones I've been running through some granular effects that I'm going to process with spectral re-synthesis in HALion 7 now ... since you've got me inspired. :)

Go for it! I already liked the spectral oscillator in Padshop a lot but this updated version in H7 sounds even better and has more functions.

I wish Halion could import Padshop presets to work on them further

Hi Gang

I've just had a nice surprise, I didn't know I was entitled to a free Halion 7 with the Grace Period.

I've not purchased any new Steinberg products since Cubase 12, it may be worth a look in your Steinberg Vouchers Guys.

Good luck.

Spectral re-synthesis in HALion 7 using a drone I made using arkhis run through some granular effects, and modulating multi-oscillator with an LFO and using a midi controller to adjust purity during playback. Running it through Valhalla supermassive.
