EDIT: speaking of which.. anybody here that made a Monte Allums mod to its CE-2? I'm pretty sure the one I got has been modded, but the former owner couldn't give me any more information. Looking at what it does, seems like that mod and I need some info to revert it back
Was this a disclosure?

Anyways, I'm actually hoping for a dead-on BF-2 above all else.

ahaha nono, that's not the MIJ I'm working on right now. Until I'm not able to restore the CE-2 to its original state, it won't be touched for development.

Hmm, me too got the impression it was CE-2 being discussed. You mean if you'll never be able to revert CE-2 to OG schemo, you won't do CE-2 at all? that would a shame and such a waste. Unless you'll manage to acquire another "default" CE-2.

Probably none of Boss drive pedals like MZ-2 or FZ-2 would give you any trouble, you have HM-2 done, so "you've been there before", so to speak.

My guess is MIJ CS-2 comp, then. But then again, why would a comp give you "a very hard time"? I heard they are quite noisy those old Boss comps.

The FZ-2 is an hell of a circuit :D Especially the rectifier, which is very difficult to replicate it digitally. This is the one giving me hard time

Post

Wow wow! :hyper: FZ-2 is a hell of a fuzz, though. 90's legend. Totally worth the effort.

In any case, I'm sure it won't take 8 years to finish, like that infamous Cytomic Scream pedal. And it's still not finished (buggy atm). We shall wait another 8 years, I guess :hihi:

Talented coder, but such a drag. If he could, he'd spend centuries on that Tube Screamer, but isn't that a pity, life is too short and he only has one lifetime :(

From my limited audio programming understanding, fuzzes and germanium type circuits of that nature are notoriously hard to model accurately and even with this newer capture/profiling tech, people can’t capture and replicate how a fuzz reacts to touch/volume and biasing voltage changes just yet. Although Luca did do an amazing job with the Rams Head and Blue fuzz face plugins. I tried it compared to my two muff variants (violet Rams Head/EHX Green Russian reissue) and my Amptweaker Tight Fuzz, and it was the first fuzz plugin i tried where i finally thought “Wow, I think a dev finally got the closest to getting a fuzz pedal right” :tu: Luca

Have you compared your Muffs to Fazertone’s Big Fuzz? It uses a neural network engine.

I don’t think i tried it. I downloaded their free klon and i think a Phase 90 phaser? Seemed decent. I’ll try the demo if there is one. I just got a Catalinbread Skewer pedal (Hornsby Skews modded Rangemaster treble booster) and its making any Plexi/Vox style sim sound absolutely amazing with any guitar for a 70’s hard rock tone. The Distorque Rangebastard gets very close, the best TB plugin imho, but there’s really nothin in that effect category that gets close to hardware yet.
