The free Verbity 2 reverb by R_Ware x Airwindows has been updated and sounds better.
https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/aw-verbity2
The great thing about this reverb is that it puts your reverbed signal "in place" in the stereo field. So when an input signal is panned a little to the left, Verbity 2 responds to this in a very neat way and you'll hear reflections coming from the other side. If the input signal is in the centre you originally would get a mono reverb but R_Ware has implemented the Haas effect to the right input channel so you can dial in some "extra stereo" even when the input signal is in the centre.
This reverb sounds very natural when emulating live rooms in which the players sit in various places across the room. It's got character. The only downside is that there is some distortion in the feedback lines that turns into a sea of noise at long decay times. This may be annoying with acoustic instruments but with synths it sounds fine in most cases. This distortion can also be heard when using the Airwindows plugin. I like this R_Ware port for VM more thanks to the Haas implementation.

Sounds great. I always find I have to work hard to get a decent placement of the reverb signal vs the original dry sound. I usually do this with a buss into which the instruments for the "room" feed, and I pan each instrument in its send.
Will have a look into this and see if it will help the verb on my track.

Just to say I have updated my track - added BassLane vst to the bass track and then re-balanced the rest to suit.

Well... The Monocled Monoceros track by Silverpants is an absolute gem. I know I probably should keep my comments and thoughts for the SoundCloud page but pfffffff....what the heck..... This is just great! It immediately brings me back to dear memories of my mid teens, pimples all over the face, checking out a new treasure elpee by Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream or the early seventies Genesis. This track probably unintentionally nails not necessarily the sound but above all the spirit, soul and energy of that era besides the sweet odour of freshly burned grass smells turned into smoking fumes in my teenage attic boy's cave. Despite of the high speed groove that somehow feels like a well chosen anachronism. Character, story telling and pure emotion are the main talents Silverpants exposes in most of his contributions and I would surely have bought his elpees back in the time. Great stuff!

Wow! Thanks for your very kind words Merlin! It means a lot coming from someone who consistently outputs very polished high quality work. The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Wed Feb 22, 2023 1:41 am Well... I think the late 60s and early 70s was one of the most exciting times in music. The speed of change and innovation was mind blowing - there must have been a sense of "anything is possible". I was born in the mid-70s, so I missed on this period first hand. As a teenager in the 90s, I was into the current indie and grunge bands but I was also discovering the treasures of the 70s (especially Pink Floyd). Since Spotify has come along - I've done a much deeper dive into early prog rock and I have a particular fondness for YES/Rick Wakeman and Gentle Giant.
I love music that tells a story and evolves with various strong emotions. Indeed my favourite classical pieces are like that - 1812 Overture, Rite Of Spring, Night On Bald Mountain.
So all this stuff is clearly an inspiration to me in my creations - and I'm glad someone is enjoying it! Gives me motivation to do more

Do I have to do anything to update it in my library or is it done automatically? The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Tue Feb 21, 2023 5:33 am The free Verbity 2 reverb by R_Ware x Airwindows has been updated and sounds better.

If you already have it in your library VM will update it for you automatically or will tell you that some of your modules have updates and will ask you for permission to install them. Say yes and VM will do so. Asking for permission to install updates is a setting you can find under the "your account" tab of VM.

SHIMMER REVERB IN VOLTAGE MODULAR !
Dear friends. Today I made an insert FX patch making use of 5 great free R_Ware x Airwindows modules to create a lush shimmer reverb. I used the Capacitor 2 filter and Pafnuty to create some extra flavours and movement to this shimmer reverb. My guess is that it's even more powerful than ValhallaShimmer but please excuse me for being biased. Make sure to check out the 6 performance knobs for live playing and/or automation.
You can find all needed free modules here: https://store.cherryaudio.com/manufacturers/r-ware
and here: https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/haaschen
You can download the patch named "OSC168 Free Shimmer Machine" from the bottom of this page: https://thesoundofmerlin.com/
Have fun!

My guess is that the guy doing the ValhallaShimmer did some extended time span (months?) of research and trial and error .. oh wait ... not guess... I actually followed the blog at the time he was doing all the research and analysis of how Eno / Lanois and others did the original shimmer. The Eno/Lanois-Shimmer would actually be disqualified in OSC because it contains kind of a pitch shifter in the fb-loop The original shimmer that was used for instance forThe Sound Of Merlin wrote: Fri Feb 24, 2023 3:26 pm My guess is that it's even more powerful than ValhallaShimme
ValhallaShimmer is thus a real shimmery reproduction of what Eno did ... that nowadyas all sorts of people do stuff with reverbs and call them shimmer is interesting but ...

Can you name the Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream Track or Genesis tracks? The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Wed Feb 22, 2023 1:41 am Well... The Monocled Monoceros track by Silverpants is an absolute gem. No, can you? I was referring to something else than specific tracks by those bands. This is what I said: "This track probably unintentionally nails not necessarily the sound but above all the spirit, soul and energy of that era"

Nope, naming the bands was not my take ... and it clearly was a comparision. The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Fri Feb 24, 2023 5:44 pm No, can you?
