Something like this ? Right now it is a separate app on Windows, but now the goal is to incorporate it into SM3:

We'll make sure drag-n-drop works flawlessly.

I really hope SM3 design will not be made by SatyaTunes :)

Actually, our SFZ implementation already supported round robin / random regions. But since we did not have a visual editor, no one noticed those features :)

Same for the FM implementations in SynthMaster, you can already connect oscillators and modulators to create complex FM routings, but no one (except Nori Ubukata probably) noticed those :)

Hopefuly we will fix those issues :) See the following routing for a layer for instance, I counted 13 modules. and yes we have a new module called "Waveshaper" which is a parametric per voice waveshaper/distortion module. Here's a screenshot from our 1024x768 iPad layout: (yes, we WILL release SM3 on iOS as well in 2024)

Complex Routing.jpg

See the "+" buttons, those allow you to add layers, modules, modulation sources dynamically. It took me a long time to create the architecture, but now it is really powerful and SynthMaster 3 turned into a modular environment.

I am planning to place some limits though:

1. 16 Layers per preset max.
2. 32 modulation sources per layer max
3. 16 modules per layer max

(we can increase those limits over time)

and one last note: While comparing our products to other company's products, please don't forget the fact the this software is created by a SINGLE (1) developer on 3 different platforms (Win / Mac / iOS) (My brother helps me with maintenance). We were far behind others, since they had more man power, but hopefuly we're catching up...
If this is the gui, im sorry to say but it looks very convoluted :)

They layouts are designed by me. GUI designers add skins. How would you prefer? We are NOT stuck with a single layout (We need to support different layouts on iOS already, we're used to that)

Please keep in mind that you have a hiearchical structure:

Layer 1
..Modules
..Mod Sources
..Routing
..Arp
..Layer FX
....Inserts 1 to 6
..Layer parameters
Layer 2
...
Mod Matrix
Macro controls
...

There are multiple views. The one I posted was Tab View. We also have

Track View:

Mix View:

Looks great Bulent!

Not sure if this is possible:
It would be cool if users could save the routing of oscs and modulators as their own kind of preset to switch the routing quickly, like algorithms in a standard FM synth. SM2 already has something similar to that, so It would be great to have it available on the Routing part of it (in your screenshot).

Looks way clearer to me than synthmaster 2 witch I love the sound and modulation power of.
Will mpe be included on realease ?

Love synthmaster. Please consider the functionality of being able to tweak the filter cutoff and resonance in the filter section (like vital), without having to point on that little square like in synthmaster 2. And also the wave index on the oscillator screen.

Yes, they really need to hire a good UX designer.

Serum is still the best example of great user experience. One of the easiest synth for a beginner producer.

Where Hive2 by u-he had a different approach. They kept everything on the same page, without any tabs. Professional preset makers may love this but it is not the best solution for newcomers.

Vital and Pigments copied the UX from Serum and they also got success.

Omnisphere also did a great job at being complex and easy at the same time.

Looks good! Though I don't see the different looping modes, just the release modes. Hope it has forward, backward and forward+backward (aka ping-pong loop) and of course that crossfading actually works properly for all modes (which it does not in many other so called "samplers" on the market, for instance Kontakt 6 crossfading can not be used when in ping-pong loop mode.. same with UVI Falcon. Crossfading doesnt work when looping in ping-pong mode).

Yes we have 3 modes: forward (default), backward and alternate (ping pong). I don't remember how I implemented crossfading in alternate mode. will revisit this when porting the code to c++.

All the synths you mention have fixed/static number of layers/modules. That's not the case with SynthMaster 3, it's more similar to Kontakt / Falcon in that regard. But it also differs from those two synths with its flexible routing approach (like a modular synth)

I own SM2 and SM one and all I can say for now is that SM3 looks like an absolute synth beast, I hope it will be here soon (any date aproximated?)
Thanks for your work.

BTW, I don't know if I mentioned it here yet, I also implemented "Disk Streaming", it's working both on Windows and MacOS (MacOS means iOS as well, haven't tested on iOS yet)

Glad to read that. I'm a happy synthmaster customer, and I'm giving version 3 a shot as soon as it's released. I always appreciated the many ways we could manipulate the osc sources before reaching the filter stage. Having stuff such as a per-oscillator waveshaper is a nice addition.

I just wanted to let you know that some of the features of the upcoming SM3 seem really handy for creative SFX and it can challenge some of the established tools.

If it offers round robin and drag and drop samples, it will probably replace Krotos Weaponizer in my workflow.

Hi guys,

Quick SM3 update development: Just added a new type of oscillator, which I called "VAnalog": This one differentiates from single cycle/wavetable oscillators. Basicly there are 2 wave shapes you draw using line segments, and you can cycle between those shapes using 2D morph parameters. With this new type of oscillator I am hoping to convert all of the single cycles we samples from analog synths to this new format:

vanalog2.jpg
vanalog1.jpg

I still have a big list of remaining tasks:

1. Comb filter: We already had feedback comb filters, we'll add feed forward as well. We will also add more filters in the feedback path of the comb filter: We only had a lowpass filter previously, we'll add highpass / highshelve / lowshelve / bandpass etc as well (up to 3 separate bands for damping the fedback signal)

2. Formant filter: I think it's time we add a formant filter that mimics vowels 🙂

3. Further waveshaper enhancements

4. Granular oscillator

5. Slice oscillator (to playback sliced samples)

6. Sample editor / sfz enhancements

7. Wavetable editor

I will do my best to finish everything up to #6 before May 1st, and release an alpha version by then.

Cheers

Bulent

I might start releasing an alpha version after #5 is completed 🙂
