Hi all.
I’m running Live 11 on a Windows 11 PC, I have my trusty 18i8 and need more inputs so I purchased an Behringer ADA8200.
Could somebody please tell me how to set it up correctly, I have my Sub37 plugged into the 8200 channel 1which is ADAT connected to my 18i8 we’re the sound is showing on the VU’s in the 18i8’s mixer control panel for channel 9 set to ADAT in 1 but the corresponding input in live channel 9/10 mono is dead.

I dont have an 18i8, but I set up an 18i20 at work, though its a very basic setup.
and I do have an ADA8200 connected to a Profire 2626.
You havent said which device you want to be the master and provide clock rate, btw. That's highly relevant info.
My Profire is the master, and clock (sample) rate is set in the control panel for that, as I actually have two devices connected to it via ADAT.
If you want the ADA8200 to pick up clock over ADAT from your 18i8, you need to make set that up as the master, AND you need to set the Sync switch on the ADA8200 to ADAT IN. Focusrite Control Panel lets you set that up for the 18i8, and confirm sync etc...

Obviously you also want to make sure the ADAT out of your 18i8 is plugged into the ADAT in of your ADA8200 and vice versa.
At that point, you should also see the 'Sync Locked' indicator on the front panel of the 8200 is green, and that and the Focusrite Control Panel should indicate the two devices are talking to each other properly.
If you have ADAT set up properly, then you might get what you expect on your Ableton inputs unless your 18i8 routing isnt configured properly That's be down to the Focusrite control panel to sort out; its a bit more complex than some, including quite flexible routing. You'll need to get that right too. See the link above for info, and probably the manual.

I've not used ADAT, but as far as I know the 18i8 8x ADAT inputs correspond to inputs 11-18. I did have to restart my Mac first time I used SPDIF on my 18i8 due to no sound in Live channel 9-10.

Hmmm, found the manual now; according to that, SPDIF are indeed on 9 and 10, but the 8 ADAT inputs correspond to inputs 13-20, as 11 and 12 are 'loopback inputs' (from software, not physical)db3 wrote: Sun Feb 26, 2023 1:00 pm I've not used ADAT, but as far as I know the 18i8 8x ADAT inputs correspond to inputs 11-18. Also, I hadnt realised the 18i8 doesnt seem to have an ADAT out. That probably means the 8200 has to be the clock master, and clock rate fixed at either 44.1k or 48k from the switches at the back of that. Example ADAT setup in the manual for the 18i8 corroborates that.
