I'm trying to work out if you can take a stereo file in cubase, muck about with it in a VST multipanner and then render it back as a stereo mix for people to listen to on headphones.
I've given it a try but I'm really just guessing and there are perhaps some videos that cover bits but no end to end instructions. Likewise the manual. Also the Cubase / Nuendo forums have alot of unanswered questions on the subject.
So I guess my first step is to find out if it is actually possible then see if I can find some help in getting it to work.

See if these two videos will give you what you need?

thanks. I had looked at the first one - do you need immerse to do this? - it's an add on pay for plugin. I kinda thought you could just use the built in VSTmultipanner and Ambidecoder but maybe I'm wrong.

No, you do not need Immerse. You can use any of the other HRTF modes. This is shown towards the end of the first video where they compare 3 of the HRTF modes.
