Why did you leave Studio One?

Wow, it certainly looks like Studio One works better with Windows Audio Exclusive instead of ASIO.
My PC (10 years old) was unable to play the demo song (Rhythm Of The Night) without drops and glitches, even with an ASIO buffer of 2048, but it plays flawlessly with Windows Audio Exclusive, even with Plugin Napping disabled.

Studio one is dope, but i sold it because i m too used to Cubase, i miss some studio one features (note repeat/no drop out on the audio engine when you add a vsti/the midi mapping/the plugin routing like ddmf metaplugin/the switch between mix mode and master mode) on the other hand when working on studio one, i didn t like the look and feel (colors and shape of container), i was missing cubase control room, vari audio, frequency2 multi side chain, the export batch and on my computer cubase performs slightly better on cpu when playing a vsti for example.

I did the opposite of you ^^^
I sold Cubase and stayed with S1.
It's very stable on both my PC and Mac. I don't have any problem in performance using either my Tascam or Presonus audio interface.
I haven't tried Windows driver, but I'll give it a try, although I don't use a laptop, but might be on the future.

I'm in Bitwig and Cubase 12 Pro so I've lost touch with what's happing with Studio One. Any truth to this person's claims?
Studio One 5 and 6 critical issues with PDC / Out of sync tracks / untight and smeared mixes

That guy is talking about TRACK 70, FFS! I'd suggest he needs to learn how to work more efficiently, within the capacity of his tools, because I've never encountered anything even remotely like that in Studio One.
To download products/updates or search for samples/loops/etc. No point downloading a 10GB sample library to my phone.Trensharo wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 7:02 amwhy would I need to open a browser when I can simply use my iPad, iPhone or Android phone to browse the internet?
I'm the opposite. I think the Cubase GUI is a dog's breakfast - some parts of it parts look like they haven't been touched in 25 years, while other bits look more modern. There is no consistency to the design and the overall effect is to make it harder to use than the far more consistent GUI in S1. I didn't mind Cubase but Studio One felt like "Cubase done right" from the first time I used it. I don't even bother installing Cubase any more.rardier wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 5:26 pmwhen working on studio one, i didn t like the look and feel (colors and shape of container)

Bitwig was a much better fit for what I do. If I was doing conventional band recording, I'd go with Studio One.

I hated Bitwig. It felt like it was made for someone else with very different needs to me. I had it as my only DAW for 6 months and never got a single thing done to my satisfaction in all that time. Since they introduced the Grid, I think I'd probably hate it even more. To be fair, though, it probably got me used to a few things, like having to double-click to enter a note in the piano roll (which I still f**king hate), that made it easier to work in Cubase.

I returned to Ableton bc the Audio manipulation was mich easier and (to me) more intuitive to achieve than in Studio One. Also the plain operation in studio one around the track was more intuitive in Live. Maybe bc I used it for so long. However the feature set of Studio One really is on another level

I've been using Studio One Artist for the last 3 months and, so far, I've not found anything I can't do.

Ironicly, leave Studio One. You're in the "Why did you leave Studio One?" thread and you can't even leave Studio One.BONES wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:07 am I've been using Studio One Artist for the last 3 months and, so far, I've not found anything I can't do.

Locking your audio card won't stop anyone from downloading and updating products. Lol. WTF?
And anyone can preview a sample pack on another device. Its not a hard concept to grasp.
Also, you can set the DAW to release the audio driver when it loses focus, which also works with Windows Audio, or you can run Windows Audio Shared in Low Latency Mode if your DAW supports the options to disable driver DSP processing (like Cakewalk does), at which point it none of this is an issue.
At the end of the day, you're at the mercy of the developers either of the ASIO Drivers or the DAW itself.

Or of your OS.
I can actually sing very well, I choose not to. My natural singing style lends itself to things like Light Opera, Rock style singing feels totally fake to me. It's something I have to put on, which I am not really comfortable with. But if you get a few beers into me, I'll happily sing Gilbert & Sullivan all night long.
