2022.12 has a few minor improvements and some bug fixes, but the Mac version also has a public beta for Apple Silicon support. There are elements that won't yet work:

AIR Plugins and Instruments
ICON, C24, and Command 8 Control surfaces
Mp3 Export
AAC Import
X-Form - AudioSuite and Elastic Audio
Cloud Collaboration and Projects
Score Editor
Chord Extraction
Rewire
Numerous third party developers, inc iZotope, Toontrack, FabFilter, Plugin Alliance, Softube, Arturia, SSL, zPlane, Slate, Nugen

To launch the Beta, users need to ‘Get Info’ on the Pro Tools App, Uncheck ‘Open Using Rosetta’ and launch.

(It is interesting that there was no KVR thread on this, the day after release day. Looks like penetration of Pro Tools among amateur and semi-pro users is next to zero).

It's a beta. The purpose is to make sure the base Pro Tools software works properly. If Pro Tools itself ends up being a buggy mess, then it won't matter what else works, will it? :-P

That being said...

I do think that there are enough "staple" vendors on that list that it will be hard to find people to properly beta test the software.

"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

ProTools is a buggy mess without proper support (I mean the official "stable" Version). You are only allowed to report bugs if you pay extra... That alone is a deal breaker. No matter how much it is promoted as "professional"...
You pray for years that bugs will be gone in the next version, but they are still there...
A client of mine regularly needs to import mp3 files. It crashes ProTools each time... No fix for a year...

Seems to have been working fabulously for millions of users...

So, I'm going to have to take that with a grain of salt.

FYI - FabFilter now support AAX. Think most of the other big holdouts should be joining in the coming months.

Most users seem pretty happy with the Beta. The main reported benefit is that core-distribution is now mathematically perfect. Obviously that means you can push it a fair bit more before you run into anything show-stopping, since a peak on a single core stops playback.

Just switched to PT and kind of assumed it was running native due to the performance I was getting on the M2, keen to test it when plugins are working properly.

Pro Tools going native is great for everyone, no doubt some plug in developers have been holding out so they can release VST AU and AAX support all at once instead of piecemeal.
