hi guys, afaik i did everything correct, but you clearly hear/see the routed version is louder.

you dont see the FX section in the video so i uploaded it as a pic, the same chain as in the BUS
Image

1.
Insert 5 routed to Masert Bus and insert 5 FX ON

2.
insert 5 routed to FX Bus and insert 5 FX OFF

anyone knows why it isnt the same? (i wanted to continue of course to route more inserts which have the same chain to the FX Bus to save cpu process and less instances.

I'm not 100% sure I've understood your question. So first I'm going to tell you what I think you're asking, then answer that.

I *think* you are asking: "Why does the volume of insert 5 change when I disable the effects on it?" I'm basing this on where your mouse pointer is in the video; the question in the post is ambiguous and unclear.

If that's what you're asking, it's because the effects are changing the volume of the signal going through them.

thx a lot, but sadly i dont get it yet ;), i have 2 sounds
sound 1 -> insert 5
sound 2 -> insert 6

both have the same chain.

to save some performance and instances i wanted to route both to the FX BUS which has the same chain as insert 5&6

now im wondering why sound 1 has a different volume with FX BUS than insert FX?

yes

Because, as stated above, you've changed the volume. You are feeding effects - which includes distortion - different signal levels and expecting it to react the same way. It won't.

Here's your gain staging:
  • Scenario 1: Direct to insert 5 -> FX -> Master
  • Scenario 2: Direct to insert 5 - > decrease volume with fader on insert 5 (signal is now quieter) -> FX -> volume fader on FX BUS -> Master
As you can see, 2 very different chains with different levels feeding the FX which means different outputs.

For context, caine has posted this here and on the Image-Line forums, where it has also already been answered correctly.
