I think I hit a snag with my OS authenticating the plugin.. I had to remove it from my plugin directory. Couldn't figure out how to get past that. Otherwise, yes, I have been running non-native VST plugins in Bitwig.

Once again thank you for the tip on getting the VST authorized.. so this is something I may be uninformed on.. I can't seem to load the .fxb files into the synth.. only the bank files are loading. .fxb files are greyed out for me. Is there something I need to do on my side? I've been using the LOAD button on the synth.

I’m not too sure about this. I haven’t tried to load .fxp, only .PG8Xbanks.johnghadimi wrote: Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:36 pm so this is something I may be uninformed on.. Loading presets seems very touch and go, at least in native Apple Silicon mode. Trying to import sysex banks into PG-8X causes my entire DAW to go *poof* in native with AU. I was able to very gingerly load a .PG8Xbank and then save individual presets into Studio One’s preset menu running Studio One in Rosetta2.
I don’t know if any of that is of any help to you.

Will have to ask around some other people that are on Bitwig and Mac M1. I verified the same issue with Reason as well. All the .fxb files were greyed out under Reason as well. I know that extension is typically associated with VST plugins, so surprised it's not loading or recognizing it! Thanks again for all the help and info.

I ran a quick experiment and launched Bitwig under Rosetta. Still didn't like/recognize the .fxb file. I'm suspecting it's an overall MacOS thing. Those bank files are plenty amazing already.

Addendum: the not loading .fxb files is specific to PG-8X.. I have other synths that loads this file format with no issues.

I checked this out in Studio One on my Mac, and I can load .fxp/.fxb in VST2 plugins, in both native M1 and Rosetta2. So it seems that support for .fxp depends on your host.johnghadimi wrote: Mon Mar 06, 2023 7:26 pm I ran a quick experiment and launched Bitwig under Rosetta. So I would recommend trying free VST2 hosts on Mac until you find one that loads .fxp.
Be sure to

Ardour
Audacity
vPlayer 3
LMMS
LiveProfessor
AKAI MPC Beats

Appreciate the info. At this point, I'm totally happy with the pg8banks. Not worth the trouble for me to find a way to load .fxb in this synth. Definitely isolated with this synth. Other instruments are able to easily load them.

That's going to depend on whether or not the instruments were programmed to support .fxp. Some, like Pianoteq do, but I'm finding most don't, and support their own proprietary formats, as is the case with PG-8X. Generally, though, .fxp is exclusive to the VST2 plugin format, and is the responsibility of the host to read/write, not the plugin, even though some do.johnghadimi wrote: Mon Mar 06, 2023 8:54 pm Definitely isolated with this synth. Honestly I can't remember, it was a few days a go.
What I do remember is I followed your instructions to the letter & there it popped in Studio One

Were you able to do it with just the terminal commands, or did you also have to delete the AudioUnitCache?

Hoping someone might be able to help or tell me "it can't be done" Is it possible to copy the JX-10/MKS-70 Factory tones (51-100) into the User tones (1-50) so a PG-8X user can finally have access to those upper preset tones? I've been scouring all the available resources and downloaded more .sysex files than I care to admit and opened them all up in PG-8X and while I've come across some of the tones that were saved in the user bank, (PG-8x will only load the 50 user tones from a JX/MKS-70 .Sysex dump) I'm really trying to be able to add those upper tones to make a full PG-8X bank of all 100 tones. Am I crazy? Unfortunately, I don't have access to a JX-10 or I'd walk through the laborious process myself.
