BONES wrote: Tue Mar 07, 2023 11:27 am You're to going to let this go, are you? Your advice wasn't that good, get over it. It's not surprising, you clearly have no training or experience, certainly nowhere near as much as I do. You gave it a shot, which is more than most of the losers around here can be bothered doing, and I'd not have given your post a second thought if you hadn't kept banging on about it. Just get the f**k over yourself, it makes you look desperate and more than a little bit pathetic.

For once I don't really know what to say... the ways in which you are bending reality, logic, reason and decency are truly mind-boggling.

Normally I don't mind a good argument, especially if it is so easy to proof that someone is an utter idiot and complete prick as it is in your case... but you manage to completely suck the fun out of it by making it just tedious and stale.

I also don't know whether I should even post this reply at all, because I am sure you actually know how wrong your are and also you seem so extremely desperate to impress others (while at the same time feeling the sting of not actually being able to deliver), or otherwise you'd not be trying that damn hard, so I really should feel pity for you - it's just: you make it so damn hard for anyone to have the slightest sympathy for you.

I know you won't (be able to, for obvious reasons) but yet I really advise you to seriously consider why nobody likes you - it's not the others.

It's funny how many threads turn in to a "shut up BONES" thread isn't it.

Funny.

If you're a visual learner, then this hands-on compression animation might help you understand it better.

it's neither funny in the slightest nor any surpring at all given the way he comunicates.

If he behaved anything like this in real life he'd get thrown out of every meeting, party, family-dinner... you name it - never to be invited again. (and he probably does indeed, I guess...)

I would just like to interject for a moment:
I saw the 'Antares Vocal Compressor' thread and thought: doesn't anyone know how to ride the faders anymore whilst simultaneously nailing a vocal take? Letting gizmos do everything!

Not sure what you mean with "riding the faders while recording"? Are you suggesting to turn up/down the input during singing instead of working the mic?

Post

That's how it used to be done before compressors! I'm just riffing on my Autotune rant, Jens.

I mean, it _is_ funny, whether you find it funny or not jens.

An outsider looking at the ways we all try to communicate effectively, and then he appears and starts shouting at everyone down telling them they're all wrong about pretty much anything.. that's funny. It's entertaining to me that someone (an adult, no doubt) thinks it's fine to behave like that in public.

It's unfortunate some people get caught up in his 'arguments' but that is one of the things we have to learn to develop as humans; knowing when to turn around and do something else when someone says things which trigger/anger/upset you.

Ideally, he'd come on here and as soon as he starts belching his superiority, people just stop replying to him. Once he realises he's effectively only talking to himself, behaviour _can_ change. Not always though..

Actually I basically fully agree with you there. I also regularly get a lot of laugh out of him - but as I mentioned at some point it always ends up just being extremely dull&tiring.

No, it actually was never done that way since the engineer was always a different person than the singer.

While as in the Autotune my stance is that everyone needs to find their own way of working and their own preffered set of tools according to their own artistic vision without this being anyone else's business at all,
if you asked me I'd really suggest not doing that for obvious reasons:

- chances are you that way might harm or even almost ruin an otherwise perfect take by riding the fader to quickly or slowly or too far up or down

- it takes your concentration away from the actual job at hand: singing

- you can easily compensate for any unwanted gain fluctuations afterwards with clip-gain adjustments and/or volume-automation. No compressor needed there.

Jens, it was satire! As was my post about learning to sing and tune in key! I know musicians didn't ride the faders back inbthe day, because there was no DIY paradigm. But since we are in the age of DIY, it seems entirely reasonable to me that we should be able to 'ride the faders' while we're singing. Just takes a bit of practice! :D

I prefer people that are frank and say exactly what they think instead of the pc hypocrites.
