TORO is a fully analog mono-synth based on the historic TAURUS 1 bass synthesizer from the 1970s.

With its pure analog signal path, TORO is fitted with 2 VCOs, capable of a 5-octave range delivering ground-shaking basses, to searing leads.

Fitted with all the same classic parameter controls found on the historic model, TORO also fully delivers the same iconic sounds but all with modern-day reliability and connectivity - all in a form-factor that fits within modern-day setups thanks to being desktop, rack-mount, and fully Eurorack compatible.

TORO is the synth with a sound as powerful as a bull, minus the bull pricing.

Estimated Price - $349 USD

When they first announced this a year ago, they indicated a $199 price tag. I guess those chips that they finally got their hands on got marked up quite a bit. Anyway, Toro looks cool and is still an attractive price, but I'd still prefer the Minitaur - it's a beast of a little synth.

I'm usually a big fan of Behringer releases...there are some I'm impatiently gagging for (Proton, VCS3, Polyvoks, still clinging onto the hope they might do a BOSCar one day). But this one does literally nothing for me :( .

There are still some I can continue collecting in the meantime. K2, Cat still on the list. Need to get a Korg XD yet. I dunno, Behringer seem to have hit on a huge doldrums recently - dunno if it's chip shortage, too distracted on other crap such as DAW development, or just pandemic/economy knocked the stuffing out of them. When you look at Korg, Sequential, even Roland - they seem to be galloping on releasing all sorts, but Behringer just spitting out marbles...

I've kind of had this base (bass) covered with the $20 Hollow Sun Taurus library for over a decade. In this case, since I'd only use Taurus pedals (or a clone) for that one, classic, droning bass sound, this is a rare instance where a sample library can replace a synth for me. I suppose I could see the appeal of this for a hardware-only live setup, though.

I totally agree, I'd take a second hand minitaur over this all day. (says the owner of a second hand minitaur :hihi:)

I don't like these ripoffs. Something like the wasp or cat, fair enough no one is making them anymore.. This toro just oozes lack of imagination down to the name.

And that logo should remind us to never turn our backs on a bull. :o
