hi guys!

i got a strange issue.

this doesnt happen always it seems.

e.g. i got a project with plugins like omnisphere, kontakt, many fabfilter q3 instances, some valhalla ones etc. when i got FL Studio as an active window/focus all is well, but when i switch on Windows 10 with ALT+TAB to my browser for example or another window and have FL Studio no active/focus it still plays/or in stop mode not play a sound - and after 5-10 seconds you hear a small crackling/lag and my pc gets slow and sometimes doesnt react some seconds and when i minimize the active window and get back to FL Studio current session all gets well again.

first i thought it might be a pluginissue, i have this issue with some projects noted but now i started to try to find out. i deleted step by step each plugin and it seems that FABFILTER Q3 was mostly doing it. i updated it to the latest version, but still the same issue. but it doesnt issue it always like that, in this project i got about 15 instances of Q3, when i delete about 7-8 it works well.

BUT while trying to record this issue, i always need to set my Audio setting in FL Studio to FL Studio ASIO to get a sound in OBS Studio which i did and suddenly i could switch the windows with all instances active (i reloaded the project before) and no stuttering etc. it only occurs when i use again my standard Audio Setting Focusrite.

i attached both Audiosettings, maybe you got an idea what to do? or how to fix it?

I could not get the new version of FL to work at all with any ASIO but the FL one. I think this is a known issue because I think there's a thread on the FL Forum. I also remember a workaround that didn't work for me. (Not sure)

thx a lot! oh i never heard about it, i always got recommended to use the ASIO drivers of the audio interface you are using... hmm i also opened this as a tech support ticket over at IL, i will update here too what they say :phones: :tu:

I've been using the standard FL ASIO and haven't had any issues. I think they've really improved it. (Don't know if this translates to realtime synth input.)

On your Focusrite Asio you have a buffer setting of 256, on FL Asio the buffer setting is 512. I'm pretty sure if you set your buffer on 512 on your Focusrite the issue will not occur.

In your first screenshot you have 6387 buffer underruns (this is what is why you have the stutter and freezes). Cause basically is that the CPU cannot keep up with your task switching and needs to prioritize certain things (usually what is in focus). A bigger buffer size means more time for the processor to handle things.

You can try to set the processor scheduling for background services and see if that helps anything.

DAW work _should_ be done run as background services.
