So does this work like the old ICE9 plugin and stop audio going over a certain level? (for safety)

They do. Linked input/output gain is equivalent to a threshold/ceiling control.Vortifex wrote: Sat Mar 11, 2023 9:21 pm The linked In & Out controls are so useful, I don't know why other clippers don't have it.
I just saw that the KClip full version already has a threshold control, so having a link button there is a bit silly and unnecessary.

Pretty sure the Acustica plugins do the autogain thing too - though I found Fire the Clip a bit weird when using it. I'll have to try KClip Zero - it looks piss-easy to use, which is nice. Clippers shouldn't be complicated. In/out/soft/hard is pretty well all I want or need in clippers.
Y'never know, if it's good I might go for the commercial one - multiband clipper sounds useful to me, and the delta function too - I love that in the rare plugins that have it. M/S - I never use but I guess it's useful for others.

StandardCLIP has the Clip control, which is 100% identical to a linked input and output.Vortifex wrote: Sat Mar 11, 2023 10:56 pm Actually you're right, VClip and Saturate do but StandardCLIP doesn't.
What I mean by this is that this is what the Clip fader actually does internally, it increases the input gain before the clipping stage and decreases the output gain after the clipping stage, and vice versa (while the clipping internally happens at 0dB).

Thank you very much for your suggestions. They are all notedVortifex wrote: Sun Mar 12, 2023 1:50 pm
Thanks for clarifying. Clearly I've suffered a massive brainfart
One thing I wish StandardCLIP did have is a numerical dB indicator of how much has been clipped. I know there's the graphic at the bottom, and the meter, but I find just having the precise number more useful than a waveform graphic (if I've missed this as well then someone let me know!) A bypass would be handy too.
