This is the best artist I know from Singapore... I am not into rap but I like his style...
Unfortunately there are very little international artists coming here.

What you mean is that you have no explanation, just blind bias.
Yes, I work in broadcast news where we have time pressures you don't get in any other field of graphic design, where things have to work reliably and work easily, without undue effort. Before that I worked as a product specialist for one of the world's largest software companies, who make some of the software we use at work. So I don't just have my direct experience to inform me, I have spent time at dozens of post-production houses in Asia, Oceania and the US. Most of them had a Mac or two lying around but all their production pipelines, without exception, ran on PCs, running either Windows or Linux.Since, from what I've gathered, you work for a company dealing with design & graphics stuff, I'm baffled at everything you say about, well... graphics... the very thing you're supposed to know stuff about
Not just small, unusably small, in that if you accidentally clicked outside of the log-in box, you had f**k-all chance of being able to click back into it so you could enter your password. Your best bet was a hard reboot and more care on the second attempt. Broadcast Engineering found a workaround for it after a week or two but it's an excellent example of the fallacy that scaling in macPOS works better than Windows, because that's nothing any Windows user has ever experienced. The Log in screen was small? Seriously?

Ah, that’s tough. My cousin from Bangkok worked there for a year and was bored to tears. I do miss the fish head soup, though.Jac459 wrote: Sun Mar 05, 2023 5:49 am In Singapore. Fantastic place but the musical scene... weaker than weak... I am not asian though...

Anyway, sorry for the off-topic

The first time I went to Singapore I saw ABC, Go West and Level 42 at a free outdoor concert. It's only a small, isolated place, with massive alcohol taxes, you'd hardly expect a thriving music scene. I worked very hard to avoid having too live in Singapore. Of all the big cities I've been to in Asia, it's close to the last place I'd want to live. KL is the only worse place I can think of.
You do, of course, know what "HD" stands for, right? Both are high-res formats. Even 720p is considered High Definition. But, you know, what the f**k would I know about it, right?sQeetz wrote: Sun Mar 05, 2023 3:17 amIt's sad actually... I wouldn't trust a company dealing with Graphics stuff who could not tell the difference between low and high resolution screens.

Well, what you say is exact, but Singapore has also a lot to offer, including a melting-pot of awesome people and a peace of life you can find almost nowhere else... I worked very hard to avoid having to leave SingaporeBONES wrote: Sun Mar 05, 2023 10:54 pm The first time I went to Singapore I saw ABC, Go West and Level 42 at a free outdoor concert. My experience of Singaporeans is that they have their initiative surgically removed at birth. One of the main reasons for not wanting to live there was having to deal with them. I do like their tax system, though. But there was still no way I could afford to own a car there, which is an instant deal-breaker for me. The third factor is the climate - too humid and no seasons. At least Hong Kong has a few weeks of the year where you might think about putting a jacket on at night.
Yes, all those poor students I taught, wasted their money on the courses. And the colleges that paid me to teach, more money down the drain. You'd wonder why they kept me on staff, wouldn't you? So what does "HD" really stand for, then, genius?sQeetz wrote: Sat Mar 11, 2023 4:06 amExactly. From a previous discussion we had a couple of cycles ago, the f*k you don't

You were a teacher? JFC. Was this in a borstal?
Still, referring to your other posts criticising teachers, I guess you were basing it on your own experiences of being one, which is admirably honest of you.

I wouldn't say it like that even if I know what you are referring to... Nevertheless, they have ton to offer, anyway that's a side discussing and it is on to disagree, it is a pure question of tastes...BONES wrote: Sat Mar 11, 2023 11:25 pm My experience of Singaporeans is that they have their initiative surgically removed at birth.
HD stands for 1080p of screen size height (and indeed 720p marketing is accepted as HD Ready).
4k is different, it is 2160p, 4 times higher resolution.
For the record, I know you know that, everybody does. But I'd you read your own posts, you were mixing 4k and HD conveniently for your own discussion benefit.

"HD" stands for High Definition. In some parts of the world, 720p qualifies as HD, as 30 seconds of research would have told you. HD can also be 1080i, not just 1080p, "i" meaning interlaced and "p" meaning progressive scan. Either way, the point is you don't need 4k to get high definition/resolution images/graphics, HD has plenty of resolution for anything you might want to do. And this is the second time you've said something about me mixing HD and 4k but I can't see any evidence of it. I think you need to re-read my posts and make a bit more effort at comprehension.

I remember having a discussion with you about 4K screens and you convincing all your colleagues how useless such high resolution screens are.BONES wrote: Sat Mar 11, 2023 11:25 pm Yes, all those poor students I taught, wasted their money on the courses. Now you're telling me that you school people on that same matter? Who hired you?
Those poor people thinking they're learning something of substance...

When I was mentioning the unresolved hdpi issue of windows with 4k, with Rob papen plugins (for example) remember?
And you were mentioning that is is "bs" and it was working fine with your "HD" screen.... still don't remember? That's convenient...

1080p for a computer screen still is Low Definition in my book. For video it might be fine, but for UI... not so muchJac459 wrote: Sun Mar 12, 2023 2:23 am And you were mentioning that is is "bs" and it was working fine with your "HD" screen.... still don't remember? That's convenient...

Well of course not ! Because the marketing name of HD means "High Definition". So it means it is a definition which is high. Because we should always believe marketing.
It is like apple with Retina display. They are the ones who know better, we should not try to have higher resolution...
Joking obviously, I 100% agree with you.
(joke aside, a few decades ago, HD was really HD in comparison of previous technologies... So it is not full marketing BS... For Retina display, it is another story...).
