Recommended on another thread, I tried this and it seems pretty good. However it isn't terribly deep (YMMV). THat's fine, but I'm wondering if there's anything similar for a similar price (this one's on sale at the Boutique) that is more in depth, perhaps more authentic to consider. Any recommendations?

Maybe Plug & Mix VIP Bundle when it's also on sale?
However, Finisher Retro at € 39 seems great value for money if you don't mind the lack of tweakability. And UJAM allows license transfers in case you change your mind after a while.

I have the demo for this and I'm all but decided to buy it. One thing: how do i unassign the finisher from responding to mod wheel commands? Maybe this is a demo version thing, but if I'm working with a part that has mod wheel modulation the Finisher knob in Retro will respond to it. This is not good. Can it be adjusted? I can't see anything that allows me to assign or unassign controllers, but this is the demo version I have. I'm using Reaper on PC as my DAW

XLN RC-20 covers a lot of similar ground

Take a look at the algorithms and modes in the manual:

One of the selling points of Finisher Retro is that UJAM did all the building, so the user doesn't have to. I know there are people that create and share/sell presets for RC-20, but still I don't think you can build half of these modes with RC-20.

To a degree. It seems a perfectly good product and the interface is lovely. However I think retro, while it may lack the depth it perhaps could have (ymmv) offers more variety.

Finisher Retro is currently being given away. I never paid any attention to it before, and I kind of dislike this super-simplified style of effect where you only get a few macro controls (and not even wet/dry built in).
But it can sound pretty great, so for free it's definitely worth picking up.

I really like the sounds I get from this. I wish it sorted the Modes in a more conventional way than by decade, though. The manual says "Since Finisher RETRO Modes aren’t conventional effects with learned names, but each one is a total individual design, you will find a short description and/or instruction right next to the Mode title to help you make the best out of that effect configuration."
This sorta makes sense in theory, but surely you can fit these effects into broad categories like "Ambience", "Modulation", "Filter", "Distortion" or something. It's weird having to scroll through different categories to try out the different reverb or filter modules.

Yeah, the interface leaves a lot to be desired. Sounds good (but I don't think I would for authenticity necessarily, just usefulness).
