Sorry that you're not interesting enough to remember what your story is!Trancit wrote: Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:23 pm I did what???
I don´t know what you have dreamed last night but I never ever touched Digital Performer ever in my life!
Perhaps you should next time make sure you rant about the correct person!![]()
Seriously, you did the thing all people with bad points do, talked about anything but my actual rebuttal to your idea on charging Mac users more for compatibility. This was how it worked when apple users were a lower amount of the market in around 2000, they aren't anymore, because of that no company will want to lose money because they charge more when the market for DAWs and plug ins is just as large on Mac. It's not how capitalism works.

Yeah, it's a silly metric. Grocery store computers at check out stands are not a logical way to make conclusions. All the computers in the third world with cracked software on it, etc. I would rather go by a developer of a very similar DAW market wise, in the Ableton employee who told me it was 50/50. It's a real number from a real source, sorry if it bothers you for some reason, but it doesn't change the fact of what I was told literally 15+ years ago when Macs were far less popular.EnochLight wrote: Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:13 pmYou could live on the moon for all I care - your "stats" are meaningless. I could easily state that as far as the home desktop computing market is concerned, less than 17% of the entire world is on MacOS. Statistically speaking by that metric alone, you will have more people on Windows running Reason than not. And if the very open beta test is anything to go by, there's absolutely more Windows users on Reason than MacOS.machinesworking wrote: Thu Mar 16, 2023 4:27 pm Even there you're very very likely wrong. Propellerheads were always cross platform, since v1 it's always seemed a straight split. In fact outside of KVR there really is no area either online or in studios, on stage etc. where PC's are more common. In fact it's the opposite, I see about 20% PCs at shows in professional and home studios, and I live 30 miles from Redmond WA and Microsoft HQ.![]()

on mac custom shortkeys can be assigned to the menu items, AFAIK it can't be done using win

System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts

System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts

Can be done with the free Autohotkey scripting... more cumbersome... but it works...xbitz wrote: Fri Mar 17, 2023 10:37 am on mac custom shortkeys can be assigned to the menu items, AFAIK it can't be done using win

I understand Windows users getting sick of seeing M1 posts, but they’re far less common than they used to be. Most active devs already completed their migration last year, especially after iLok finally went native. Reason just sticks out like a sore thumb right now because out of the 21 hosts/DAWs on the market it’s dead last as the final holdout in transitioning to ARM64, even beaten out by the ultimate slug of slugs, Pro Tools. To be fair though Reason has been juggling multiple challenges at once from overhauling their audio engine for improved multithreading, to GPU acceleration, high-DPI rack assets and VST3 support; all non-trivial hurdles to overcome for a program this old.Trancit wrote: Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:20 pmI didn´t meant anything in terms of slowing down Reason development...Danilo Villanova wrote: Thu Mar 16, 2023 1:52 pm Reason hasn't even started working on the M1 thing yet so their slowness can't be blamed on Mac users.
It's true that development across all DAWs seems to have gotten slower lately. Very little updates.
One major exception being Reaper. Damn those guys are on fire lately!
I'm just sick and tired of all this yammering... Buuhhuu... this isn´t still M1 native... Buuhuuu, this isn´t MacOS "Stick it into my Rosetta" compatible...
When you are relying on such a silly company... stop whining and face the consequences...
Meanwhile nearly every second forum post is a Mac user whining why developers doesn´t do this M1 native and that M1 native...

Just like already mentioned in this thread.... The Mx architecture is kinda Endgame for Apple. What's next? Which platform is there left to jump to? They are designing their own chips. That's it.
They've been doing it successfully for the iPhone for quite a couple of years right now....
Unless there is a major shift in CPU architecture itself, they aren't going to abandon this ship anytime soon.
