NKS patches for the Waterfall B3 now too - really loving this one, very gutsy and playable - my favourite B3 apart from the Logic one

hopefully they make the neve preamp available to buy natively. seems it is available for renting but not buying at the moment

Their 1073 EQ, which is available natively, includes the preamp (with the EQ of course - so it costs more).j wazza wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 3:10 pm will check out the fairchild now, although so far i haven't liked the sound of any uad compressors ive tried, but everything else is fantastic

are you sure it can be bought natively? here under 'ways to buy' it just mentions spark (sub) and uad cardsFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 5:01 pmTheir 1073 EQ, which is available natively, includes the preamp (with the EQ of course - so it costs more).j wazza wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 3:10 pm will check out the fairchild now, although so far i haven't liked the sound of any uad compressors ive tried, but everything else is fantastic

Yeah, that's weird. It's native if you own the DSP or subscribe to Spark. I have the UADx 1073 working here natively because I bought the DSP version. Not sure why it's not for sale individually. Maybe UA is taking a page out of the IK Multimedia playbook and just making everything more complex than it needs to be.j wazza wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 5:36 pmare you sure it can be bought natively? here under 'ways to buy' it just mentions spark (sub) and uad cardsFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 5:01 pmTheir 1073 EQ, which is available natively, includes the preamp (with the EQ of course - so it costs more).j wazza wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 3:10 pm will check out the fairchild now, although so far i haven't liked the sound of any uad compressors ive tried, but everything else is fantastic

i think they need permission from the brand owner to sell it as native where it's covered by a licensing deal.

The world is truly made up of different people.
I have been using UAD since their mackie days in 2004?...
and the one thing, the one area that they are solidly ahead of everyone else for me is their compressors

I mean, I suppose that's possible. Who knows what's in the contracts and how they're worded, but it's available natively for free. Seems weird that you wouldn't also have it for sale. Neve probably makes something like $50 for each license sold, so you figure they'd want in on that. But it's all just speculation right now.gaggle of hermits wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 6:03 pm i think they need permission from the brand owner to sell it as native where it's covered by a licensing deal.
Apologies for the bad info I put out there about 1073 being available for sale. I thought it was because it's already native, but that was clearly not the case.

What are people's opinion of their fairchild? I've been hemming and hawing for too long over it so looking for another opinion. If UAD were sidechainable I'd likely have bought it already. I'm a big Pink Floyd and Beatles fan so that's one pyschological hook they've got in me that I can't quite let go of, granted I don't *need* need another compressor.
Or do I wait and see if they drop another native plugin before March is over? Culture Vulture, their moog filter or DBX are prob. the 3 main ones that i know of that i'd be looking for.

Note sure if it's been mentioned here yet.. if you have a UA account, UA have given all accounts a $/€/£ 50 voucher valid on purchases over 99 until March 31st. It's applied automatically in the shopping cart. (Will show "March 2023 $50 Coupon")

It's a really great mix bus/mastering compressor, gives a nice feel to anything, really great on real instruments. It's a familiar 'sound' in that it was/is used as the mastering compressor for many vinly pressings over the years.nusound mind wrote: Fri Mar 17, 2023 8:42 am What are people's opinion of their fairchild? I'd compare it against the UAD Manley Vari Mu, which can just be magic sometimes in how it brings out details in a mix. (PA SPL Iron is also a cheaper Vari Mu compresser, but I think not quite as good)
Fairchild is highly rated for drums, great parralel, but there are other options for drums like the Neve 33069 for acoustic, or the API 2500 which.
In terms of the limiting part of a Fairchild, I think the recent UAD Neve 2254 is a good one to compare, it also has limiting and a really nice tonal flavour.
But of course... the differences between all these listed above are more like different flavours than really drastic difference (except maybe Neve 33069). They all take a bit of learning to really get the best out of them as well.

Thanks for the reply. The Neve isn't available natively atm so that's off the table for now._leras wrote: Fri Mar 17, 2023 10:35 amIt's a really great mix bus/mastering compressor, gives a nice feel to anything, really great on real instruments. I just did a shootout b/t the LA2A, Fairchild & 1176 on a bunch of different stuff and tbh the 1176 won most of the time, pretty handily. More depth, clarity, headroom from my brief tests. The LA2A was second, but the fairchild won a couple times too. They're all nice.
I basically just want a UA compressor and I'm thinking the 1176 will be the chosen one.
Very pleased they went native, the only instrument I don't love from the bundle is the piano, Everything else is fantastic. Never was willing to spring for their hardware so the sub impressed me and now that I can ditch that and just keep them I honestly couldn't be happier.

Thanks that's nice - I also have a £25 voucher from buying the Creative collection but apart from what's in that bundle there don't seem to be any more interesting creative effects that are native apart from the Lexicon reverb (which I have well covered by Relab) and a couple of Tape fx (I have several alternatives such as Softube) so I can't really use this.PAK wrote: Fri Mar 17, 2023 9:47 am Note sure if it's been mentioned here yet.. if you have a UA account, UA have given all accounts a $/€/£ 50 voucher valid on purchases over 99 until March 31st.
