I'm late to the party, but listen to this: https://on.highnote.fm/space/fd6523d7-5 ... 02f6?share

It's an old project with amateur mixing, but all guitar tracks here was made with VSTis. To me they do sound convincing enough.

Thank you. I’ll check it out

I think Prominy V Metal is the most realistic solution. I've tried a lot of virtual guitars in my time, and it seemed to me the most similar to the real one. But nothing can replace a real guitar.

Pianoteq have released a classical guitar emulation. It sounds great.

Now hoping for them to release an electric version and some old guitars like lutes and bouzoukis.

Best I've tried would probably be the NI ones, but haven't tried that many
Soul guitar in soundpaint is pretty neat too

I swear by the AmpleSound stuff. Check this out:

advanced wavetable synths can do more interesting and rich 'guitar' sound, than real guitars, just need 10 years sound design experience :)

Synths can be really good at modelling acoustic guitars these days, but show me at least one decent electric guitar synth with realistic sound.

I’m a guitarist of 23 years and to my ear that sounds pretty impressive. What really does it is that it generates the proper string scratching sounds as you move from one chord to another.

Agreed, AmpleSound stuff is PRETTY good with acoustic guitars and bass instruments. But their electric guitars are not that impressive.

Trying to imitate some 'real' instruments sound is wrong idea - i do better actually, today made left-right channel guitar like sound, which will be released these days as 'Next Generation Free' pack, all Synthmaster One users could use for whatever music.
My point is that we use to think limited way about type of instruments we use, which sound design easy avoid.

Depends on genre. I do metal stuff and I need the exact instrument type with realistic sound.

I'm rock/metal guitar player too and most boring thing to me is to play same distorted stuff again and again another 40 years - there is so many modulation software now it's just mandatory man to experiment :)Cheers :)
