I have a few 4HP Doepfer mults, but removed them all apart from an a-181 (1/4" jack to 2x3.5mm). I tend to stick to 0HP external mults these days.Shabdahbriah wrote: Fri Mar 17, 2023 7:00 pm +1 ... and perhaps some 'mults', unless you don't have an aversion to spending stupid money on 'stack-able' cables.
I did think I might eventually pick up a couple of the Doepfer 2HP ones later down the line, to fill up remaining space in any rows usefully and cheaply, but ZLob VCAs and/or mixers would probably be more useful.

Ive mentioned it several times, since its a great budget system, but my NiftyCase is basically holding a set of most of the original Chromatics.elxsound wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 4:32 am Any thought on Dreadbox’s Utopia?
Seems like a nice multi-tool, mixer, splitter, buffered multi, LFO and a neat “pulseriser”
I only started looking at after thinking of getting Ataxia, but it seems to be discontinued.
I do think that they're really nice for the money. Much more multipurpose than, say, Doepfer modules, which are similarly cheap, but more narrowly scoped and generally maybe less characterful. Chromatics are generally pretty direct to use as well, though the Ataxia is a little bit more 'modal.' Big fan.
Im surprised they're cancelling stuff in that line. Maybe there's a mark2 Ataxia coming.
But yeah, thumbs up from me on the Utopia.

That's the MakeNoise hipster tax at work.

DV247 are selling the Dreadbox modules at low prices at the moment, although they aren’t actually in stock.whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 10:43 amIve mentioned it several times, since its a great budget system, but my NiftyCase is basically holding a set of most of the original Chromatics.elxsound wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 4:32 am Any thought on Dreadbox’s Utopia?

I’m tempted because the silly colours would complement my Blue Marvin as would the sliders.

I’m disappointed about Ataxia. It’d be a great fit, but I’ll keep an eye on the 2nd hand market or find a new option if those prices are insane.whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 10:43 amIve mentioned it several times, since its a great budget system, but my NiftyCase is basically holding a set of most of the original Chromatics.elxsound wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 4:32 am Any thought on Dreadbox’s Utopia?

I ordered Utopia. I got it for free… I had some cash back deals from Amazon’s credit card, and I’m not complaining.
So now of course I’m looking at Eudomonia and Dystopia. Both would are cleverly useful.
EDIT: Ordered the 3 (Utopia, Dystopia & Eudemonia)

Yeah, I’ve been watching prices and people keep buying the expensive units… so, maybe Echophon is not in my (immediate) future.vurt wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 11:02 am 369 for brand new mimeophon

I’ll focus on Erbe-Verb. I already missed a good deal but I think there’s good chance for another.
Maybe prices will come back down for Echophon in the coming months.

I had avoided watching videos on Erbe-Verb because I knew I’d be interested. I was right… It’s probably something I should have bought from the beginning.vurt wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 2:56 pm good plan! i love a bit of erbe verb!!

Watching videos on it is how I missed the first deal - but I was also holding out hope Echophon would be available cheaply, but that’s not what’s happening.

I'm slowly getting back into things... First helping my brother with basic mixing concepts via zoom, then jamming with Elektron boxes.vurt wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:15 pm ouch, that's rough. fingers crossed another one pops up

Installing updates on hardware and software... *I seriously did not know there was updates for Mimeophon! I have to do this today.
The first Rackbrute is out for delivery and I don't know if I'll get a chance to use it, vs spending time rearranging things, but maybe by tomorrow I'll finally record some noise.
