I uninstalled UA connect entirely and all the UA native plugins run fine normally, offline when i do it too. Zerocrossing is right you need to put it on ilok dongle for that, although presumably you can use the cloud too but I've never used the cloud myself.LFO8 wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 7:07 pmWhat I am seeing is that it loads UA connect in the background every time you open a session with UAD plugins.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:50 pmIt's iLok, so I think if you put it on your USB dongle you should be good to go off the internet.Sinisterbr wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:26 am The demo needs to be connected to the internet to run. I'm mentioning this as I've not seen it noted in the recent posts so far: if you're interested in Opal (or a number of other UAD products,) there is a sale going on right now. This means that Opal is $99 instead of $199 until 3-31-2023.
It seems very nice and sounds "solid" and kind of gushy warm (if you want it to be.) I think it compares closest to Equator 2 with its two filters and three oscillators (though one cannot place FX between the filters in Equator 2.) Also, Equator 2 supports MPE. I didn't count, but Equator seems to have more wavetable options and allows for the user to load his own wavetables (Opal does not.) I'm not sure if I'll buy it yet or pass as I do have a number of wavetable synths. I think the only real functionality I would gain would be the ability to place the distortion\feedback\ et al. between the filters: this is sweet, but I'm not thinking it's a game changer yet. I'll have to program with it a bit to see. Opal is exceptionally inviting and quick to program. Kudos to UAD on that.

ADD MARCHTOP50 at checkout and get an additional 50% off as well pointed out by deejay from the other UAD threaddlandis wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 8:37 pm I'm mentioning this as I've not seen it noted in the recent posts so far: if you're interested in Opal (or a number of other UAD products,) there is a sale going on right now. So it goes down to about $50? That would be great.twal wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 8:45 pmADD MARCHTOP50 at checkout and get an additional 50% off as well pointed out by deejay from the other UAD threaddlandis wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 8:37 pm I'm mentioning this as I've not seen it noted in the recent posts so far: if you're interested in Opal (or a number of other UAD products,) there is a sale going on right now. Oh wow, Thanks for that! I had a $50 coupon in my account from UA so I paid $49 for Opal. Totally worth it. You'll get an additional $25 thank you coupon for each purchase transaction, after the purchase..dlandis wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 9:03 pmSo it goes down to about $50? Edit ... the "MARCHTOP50" was the $50 coupon I used, it doesn't work more than once.

I just used it: $52.25. Definitely worth it. I saved the license to my iLok dongle. I don't know if the code can be used more than once, however.tdm71 wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 9:08 pmOh wow, Thanks for that! This may be the next to last softsynth I buy for quite a while (except updates.) My final purchase will probably be Viper as I don't have a Virus emulation and that one seems really nice.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I'm seriously considering buying Opal, but have no experience with iLok or whatsoever. I'd uninstall all middleware I can.nusound mind wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 7:31 pmI uninstalled UA connect entirely and all the UA native plugins run fine normally, offline when i do it too. Is there any particular reason you uninstalled all middleware? Arturia has the center do I have to run it at all timesSinisterbr wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 9:21 pmThanks, that's what I wanted to know. It's a lot different though. Arturia software centre is where their products are activated as well as downloaded and appears to be needed to maintain that (although there is an offline activation available I think it still requires ASC). On the other hand once activated to your ilok the UAD plugins don't really require the UA Connect app to stay licensed.

Maybe it’s looking for updates? I can’t imagine why they’d have it phone home and iLok. I’ll try turning off my internet and then launching it to see.LFO8 wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 7:07 pmWhat I am seeing is that it loads UA connect in the background every time you open a session with UAD plugins.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:50 pmIt's iLok, so I think if you put it on your USB dongle you should be good to go off the internet.Sinisterbr wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:26 am The demo needs to be connected to the internet to run. I bought it. I think the factory presets sound too simple and uninspiring, but the synth itself sounds amazing indeed.

I’ve pulled the trigger. Already had PolyMax. I think it sounds better than the competition. Even though it’s wavetable, it sounds much more like my analogue synths. I’ve concluded it sounds better to me than Massive X.
For 50 doughnuts this is an absolute steal. I don’t mind UA connect or Ilok. Don’t wanna sound like a fanboy either but all the native plugins I’ve recently demoed from UA are sublime.
