Hello everyone!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lbFw_6g25uc
Lately I was listening to this track by Tor and I loved the intro( before the piano and bass enter) and realised that when creating some layered textures to fill up the space and set the vibe I end up repeating the same processes again and again and in particular I end up always with a "fuller" sound than what I need.
I mean that it feels like it is always too in-your-face and as if it was another instrument.
I tried with reverbs and cutting off the feequencies leaving only the mids but nothing comes close to this.
Does anyone have any insight about the process that he might have gone through?
Thank you!

Leave most of the highs, cut the lows and use early reflections and level automation to give the sense of distance. There are many many IRs that are tagged by distance from the source. That may be a good place to start if you aren't super comfortable using algorithmic reverb for spatialisation.
I'd go with a 6dB/8ve high pass to keep the bass rolloff smooth and maybe a small peak in the high mids to give the impression of loss of high end definition

Thank you, that sounds quite detailed and I'll definitely try also some convolution reverb to see how different it feels from the algorithmic I am used to.
What kind of process do you think was applied to get the samples to sound so "glued"? Some compression or maybe just the general applying the same eq cuts and reverb to the whole?
