I have a good grasp of treble clef and a terrible grasp of the grand staff.
Whereas in the past I've been quite content with grazing chord charts and letting my relative pitch carry me the rest of the way on keys or guitar. I've entered into a new realm (for me) Classical on the linnstrument. While yes I can translate keyboard view to the linnstrument or even use linnstrument tab / fretboard view. I find the former slows me down and the later I'm making even more corrections due to the linnstrument being able to produce more that one note per row(string)
The more I struggle calculating notes on the ledger the less I am to complete a project and yet I think that if I just hold onto straight grand staff reading the better I'll get a grip on it and lose the short cuts translation methodology.

I found the concept of middle C being one ledger line below treble and one above bass clef - the link - provided a proper perspective or clear visualization; ie., the two clefs are one thing with 11 lines with that clean join at center.
So the movable C clefs follow, middle C/middle of visualization.

When pianists read left hand they read down from middle C left hand bass clef. When I read bass clef I read up from Low G and I'm always tripping when 8va /8vo isn't used and there are no actual completed ledger lines
I do better with keyboard view but sometimes I lose reference to bar/beat when I do. Because of technology I find myself faking it by ear in a pinch. Especially when it comes to rhythmic figures. I've come up with mental shortcuts. Melodies, arpeggios, ostinatos all run fine on the treble clef and take a little longer on the bass clef. Though sometimes it's a struggle when they hit middle C. Two part inventions and harmony especially when spread over the grand staff kill me.

my eyes are not good enough to deal with more than 3 ledger lines, it’s what am I looking at. I read quite a lot of guitar music pure treble clef so the three are ingrained.
Down from middle C/up from G bottom line, it’s all the one thing, a continuum. is where you want to be.
