Willie Nelson - The Pilgrim, Chapter 33 (Kris Kristofferson)
Willie Nelson - Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down (Kris Kristofferson)
And though I won't post them all here, pretty much everything else on the Sings Kristofferson album too, except for "You Show Me Yours (And I'll Show You Mine)" -- I'm just not that keen on it as a song, so I can't claim the cover is a great one.

Because the greatest cover of all it happened to her. Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You (Acapella Intro). I like this version best. From The Bodyguard Soundtrack. Funny enough, this was going to be 'What Becomes of the Broken Hearted', but another movie was using it. Parton wrote & recorded this in 1974 as a goodbye to her partner before going on her solo career. I would have given anything to be in the booth when Houston opened her mouth the first time for this.

Nina Hagen - Zarah (Hot Tracks Mix) Giorgio Moroder remixed this for HT. I knew he'd done her German album with Keith Forsey & I was familiar with the single NY, NY. I got this vinyl from the HT DJ Record Pool one month. A 2 record set which this was the last song on Side B of the 2nd record. I didn't know the song, but was excited to see Moroder's name on it. It was 1982 and he was in his second renaissance doing all those incredible movie soundtracks. Took a listen, and the next 7 minutes changed my view of what you could do with music. Surprised to learn it's a cover from a German song (I hope I get this right) "Ich weiss, es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehen", by Zarah Leander. From the operatic opening, to the breaking glass, listen and love.

I love some 80s music, Peter Gabriel Kate Bush, and some terrific soundtracks too. Never Cry Wolf by Mark Isham...
