Hi, Over here at Channel Robot we are pleased to announce we have updated our DuoTone Effects Series to version 2.0.
The DuoTone effects are designed to offer flexible and unique approach to audio routing. All 8 effects share a common approach to audio routing. Each DuoTone plugin takes the in-bound audio, applies an in-bound volume control and then splits the audio signal into three separate independent paths: the A Channel, the B Channel and the Dry Channel.
The Dry channel has no effect applied, but you can add a fixed delay (for double-tracking effects) and its own volume(gain) control.
The A Channel and the B Channel have identical layouts, each starts with a parametric eq, with unlimited nodes, that allows the shaping of the inbound signal to your liking before it enters the effect, this is followed by the effect itself – with all the controls you will ever need – followed by an independent gain control.
DuoTone effects allow you to use either series or parallel processing. In parallel the inbound audio is routed to both the A Channel and the B Channel at the same time. In series, the B Channel is turned off, and a second independent effect is inserted into the A Channel, the C Effect, so you get two effects (A and C) one after the other each with separate independent configurations.
Finally there are Gain, Width and Saturation effects at the output.
The series is made up of 8 different effects:
DuoTone Chorus 2
DuoTone Chorus 2 is a completely reworked code-base for the chorus effect itself. We wanted a lush, thick and deep effect so we tripled the number of chorus voices inside the effect (amongst other things) so now you are actually working with 6 voices inside each effect copy rather than the standard two in most chorus', so yeah it can go pretty big.
DuoTone Compressor 2
DuoTone Compressor 2 is a completely rebuilt effect, we wanted a more subtle and configurable compressor - that could be transparent when we wanted it to be, but could go all the way to brick wall limiting. So we built a new compressor that added in soft knee capabilities, and the ability to add or remove it as required.
DuoTone Delay 2
DuoTone Delay 2 is a completely reimagined effect. We kept the original independent stereo delay from V1 (renamed "Classic" here), but we added in two more delay effects, True Ping-Pong Delay and Tape Delay. Now you can mix and match these three completely different approaches to delay for unique and extensive poly-rhythmic output.
DuoTone Distortion 2
DuoTone Distortion 2 is also a completely reimagined effect, it replaces the existing DuoTone Shape. So we kept the original wave shaping distortion from V1, but we added in two more distortion effects, one called "Dirt" and one called "Dist"(yeah not our most imaginative naming scheme). Now you can mix and match these three completely different approaches to distortion for unique and extensive mangling of your sound.
DuoTone Flanger 2
DuoTone Flanger 2 is a completely new effect. So the series was missing a Flanger, now its not. Here we wanted a classic Flanger effect, but we couldn't resist adding in separate left and right delay times for "better" stereo effects.
DuoTone Gate 2
When it came to DuoTone Gate 2 there wasn't a lot we wanted to change, so we pretty much didn't. We added the all new UI and that's it. We still really like this effect - its amazing what interesting output you can get from a step based gain control, with added smoothing.
DuoTone Phaser 2
Like DuoTone Chorus 2, DuoTone Phaser 2 is a completely reworked code-base for the phaser effect itself. We wanted a fuller, thicker and deep effect so we doubled the number of internal processors, and we wanted to offer full control over these LFO driven processes. This means there's a fair few more controls here than elsewhere - but we feel its worth it.
DuoTone Tremolo 2
When it came to DuoTone Tremolo 2, like Gate 2, there wasn't a lot we wanted to change, so we pretty much didn't. We added the all new UI and that's it, so this lack of change is reflected in the reduced pricing here. Again it's a cool effect.
Version 2 of the effects include:
- New UI
- Unified and simplified single install process
Version 2 is available as a complete 8 effect collection for a list price of $282.00, however we are having a HUGE SALE over at Audio Plugin Deals where you can get the entire collection for 81% off, so that’s $54.00.

Owners of individual DuoTone V1 products will be eligible for a free upgrade to V2 of their products when the individual products are released in the coming weeks.
