GUI:
Anyone tried this? On surface, can't see myself dishing out €149,00 for it.

I bought the original for $5 from Plugin Boutique. It has a nice sound but it was a bit too nice for my needs. I haven't bothered installing it on my last 2 or 3 computers. I can't imagine too many people would be willing to pay $100+ for an update, especially without a demo.
It's a bit sad, really - we are so spoiled for choice that something new really needs to be very special to cut through.

Not sure if you're talking about the same product but it was released last March 14, based on this: https://www.pluginbliss.com/orb-synth-x ... synthesis/ (https://www.pluginbliss.com/orb-synth-x-the-next-generation-of-wavetable-synthesis/)-

Yes, that's it but you can't read, because it says "The plugin is scheduled for release on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023."

They are literally out of their mind with this price tag.
I will be surprised if they will sell even only one unit.

Tastes are different of course.....
But for me the Orbsynth is one of the worst synths out there, not even useable for pre-listening inside orbproducer. Not one useable preset, not for arp, not for melody, not for chords.
I am sure the X will make it into next orbproducer plugin (if it ever comes), maybe useable then at least for that. I wont even listen to it, maybe when it reached the "regular" prize like the orbsynth which is 5 bucks.....

I couldn’t agree more…it basically is a copy of Ableton’s Wavetable, but worse sounding and still less features. Not sure how anyone would consider this “upgrade” or original version when good free options are plentiful nowadays. Yes, it is subjective what sounds good but Orb Synth didn’t even seem worth the $5 I dropped on it way back; uninstalled in less than a day.
Unrelated to Orb Synth but in relation to their general products: I never had Orb Composer but I bought in with Orb Producer 1, got an upgrade to 2 for free (I imagine for some good will),bought the upgrade to 3 when it was released with promises of various features being brought to it and then…nothing. No real updates in the year and a half it’s been out, though I believe there was a tiny bug fix update nearly right after release.
I would definitely caution anyone looking to buy into Hexachord products because they’re definitely giving me a sense of releasing stuff, promising big things with each product, and moving on to the next piece of software.

The main problem with this "new synth" is that it's basically the same synth with small changes, but with "new" name.
New features are (please, do not laugh):
1. AUTOMATION!
You may ask why it's even a feature. All synths have possibility to use automation, right?
WRONG! ORB Synth didn't have that option because was not reporting any knobs to DAW so you didn't have any possibility to use automation. Even "last tweaked" in FL works that way - it must first recongize knob by it's name and then you can connect automation to it. In case ORB Synth - your DAW just didn't know that any knob was moved!
So now - great feature - automation is working!
2. NEW EFFECT!
Yeah! You can now use brand new chorus effect! It's FOURTH effect in this synth - after delay, reverb and drive. None of them working so good before, so I don't expect that this chorus will be good. But yes - it's new effect! Not first, not second, not third but FOURTH effect!
3. IMPORT WAVETABLES!
You may not know that, but ORB Synth was wavetable (only) synthesizer without possibility to import custom wavetables (or generate any). Something like tomato soup without tomatoes. Now import custom wavetables is a new feature!
4. Improved unison sound quality
Yes, that is on changelist. Well, previously unison do not work so good, so now I suppose it starts working proper. Great feature. Bugfixing is now a feature!
5. Oscillator fine tune
Should I coment it at all?
6. 100+ presets
Not 20, not 25, not 30, not 35... not 95, not even 100, but 100+ presets!
7. And much more!
This feature is really great, because there is not enough changes that would justify changing the name and selling the same product a second time. If I add that there is only one glide mode (glide always with retrigger and only in poly mode), last version was released over 2 years ago (and then no fixes, no updates at all), support ignores customers, you cannot be sure that after you save your project, your preset will be restored proper after reload etc. - the only I can say is - STAY AWAY from this synth!
Or buy it. But then don't be surprised if they will release "Orb Synth XX" or "Orb Synth Deluxe" after 1-2 years and you will be forced to pay for update (update, not upgrade, because number of changes is too small for calling it "upgrade").

LOL. Apparently they can't sell this crap. Today I get info that "upgrade" costs "only" 29 euros! It's still 28 more that I can pay for this crap.
We (customers) are the only line of defense against bad companies like Orb. Paying even 29 euros for extremely basic synth with very bad support and in situation when you assume that next version will be the same synth renamed again and you'll must pay for another update (called "upgrade") is too much.

Yes, they are a garbage company. I do feel bad for anybody that purchases.
$159. Holy smokes. I also got an email apologizing for $99 "upgrade" (i.e. they actually finished Orb Synth) and an offer for $29 upgrade. Doubt they refunded the poor schmucks (if there were any) that bought in at $99.
I was blown away by the cutting edge notion of a wavetable synth in 2023 that supports automation and has a chorus effect. I should obviously forgo any mature developers with large communities and quality products and buy into this heap, screw Vital at $0, or even Serum at $20 more....
Embarrassed I even bought the original for $1. It was overpriced. Admitting it is my first step to recovery, though.
