Lets not get carried away and forget that they do have to make money somehow though.

They should offer everyone a free WUP for all their current plugins. That would help relieve some of the tension and frustration they created.

The subscription to the electrical company is due every month.

Good to see people weren’t having it and companies can’t just do whatever they want. Reminds me if Bitwig’s add-on debacle. Wish there was similar energy towards something like Adobe!

More seriously, I hope other companies that were testing the waters now see the strong reaction en masse to such a proposal and reconsider or rework their future business models.

I have no problem with a company making a mistake and adjusting. They could have saved themselves a lot of trouble by a customer survey, but I guess they got the message.

No more Waves for me. They already showed themselves as being poor at business and acting with no insight to their customers. And now with this, the last nail in the coffin. Idiots. I can't believe anyone let alone a business would make themselves so dependent on this company. Crazy.

Very valid points imo.medienhexer wrote: Wed Mar 29, 2023 3:59 pm How about capping WUP at 100 bucks, while we're at it?
And license transfers without active WUP? And how about that transfer fee? If I want to get rid of Mercury, I have to invest 240 bucks for WUP and what, 350 bucks for the transfer?

With tech, software and hardware it generally pays not to be on the bleedin edge. Chill, stand by and see what happens, what's the rush ? Nothing that happens in software is going to make your music better over night. Only you can do that, through efforts.

Unfortunately for Waves they might have opened Pandora's box. We weren't actually getting anything new when paying WUP. Same plugins, no new functionality.LFO8 wrote: Wed Mar 29, 2023 5:03 pmVery valid points imo.medienhexer wrote: Wed Mar 29, 2023 3:59 pm How about capping WUP at 100 bucks, while we're at it?

FabFilter does things in a way I can wrap my head around. Maintenance updates are free. FabFilter also continues to innovate and develop new versions of their plugins that are worth an upgrade price, and then people are more than happy to pay for an upgrade. No subscription to fund maintenance. This is the way.
I wonder how many people will now WUP and sell all of their Waves plugins? If it's even financially feasible with the Waves forever $29.99 sales, WUIP cost, and transfer fees.
