I haven't bought anything from them since V9 because of that WUP stuff. Too many other options out there.

I can only imagine the big time sales will be over though and they will make the subscriptions as attractive as they possibly can (by making the individual sales and WUP more expensive).

yup, difficult to convince people to pay 200 a year for plug ins you sell outright for 29.99.

I honestly think this was all a ruse to make WUP more acceptable to people

If they really wanted to repair broken bridges they could have given all license holders a free update

This can help you move away from Waves. Community generated list of alternatives. We are still editing it to remove obvious mis-matches but this can help you target specific alternatives

You are assuming Waves leadership is smart and strategic. Their track record shows the opposite: they are stupid and blindly tactical. So thinking this was planned or there is some positive scheme here is daft. Waves are losers.

Also constantly and arbitrarily bumping the version number (since you used to get minor point updates even without WUP).
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

if it had been a ruse, they wouldn't have backtracked straightaway.
they'd have said "we are listening, we'll see if we can do anything to make it work for our loyal customers of course"
then a couple of days later backtracked.

this was panic.

I agree, vurt. There is no way they'd have gone through converting their website and the underlying infrastructure to support subscription only if they had intentions of using it as a ruse to get people to value WUP more.

I'm responding to Waves with my favorite FM synth: F.'em! :hihi:

Not only that, but they would have had everything ready to go right back, rather than a message saying “We are currently putting all our efforts into making perpetual licenses available to you again, as quickly as possible.”

Right now the Waves IT department is desperately hitting undo delete on their trash can.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP
