What's the best band name you've ever heard? They should be real bands, though they don't have to be famous. The name should be humorous, thought-provoking, or whatever else makes a name stand out. Also, try to mention whether or not the band is worthy of it's cool name.

I think the funniest / most eye-popping band name I know is a greek metal band by the name of, "Rotting Christ". I bet that name has turned more than a few heads.

Rotting Christ is fully worthy of their awesome name. They rock hard enough that the surgeon general should probably require them to include a "Listening to this album may cause whip-lash" warning on their CD cases. Listen to "Tyrannical" off of Sanctus Diavolos and you'll see what I mean. If you still have a pulse after listening, then severe neck pain will set in after a few minutes of listening.

There was a pub rock band in London some years back called FREE BEER.

Imagine seeing a sign outside a pub...

I mean that should pack 'em in...

Also around the same time there was another band called PLUMET AIRLINES.

Though I never actually saw these bands play.

There's some band called "To Be Announced." They're crazy-prolific, playing all over the place, and just about every night, man! I've seen them on the ticket at some pretty big venues, but they never seem to make headliner. They have a really diverse sound, but I think promoters must be scared off by their constantly-changing lineup.
