Hi there i can`t get my head around why my Emu 0202 usb driver US-1-40-00 Beta out performs the Tascam us 2x2 usb Driver and Settings Panel v4.00 .i am on a pc desktop windows 7 64 bit 8gb ram . if i have a very small project open in cubase 9.5 the Tascam is ok but once the project gets bigger it starts popping and is unuasable ,i have it set at max buffer size but no joy.
Where as the Emu 0202 handles any project any size with no problem even at 10ms buffer size. the tascam has a power inlet even though it is supposed to be powered by the usb but i dont have a dedicated power supply for it and i was wondering if this might help the tascam,i don`t` know if you can use the power supply and have it also powered by the usb at the same time. thanks

It sounds like the issue is driver efficiency. Some manufacturers are better at coding their drivers than othersHeadkneestoes wrote: Fri Mar 31, 2023 10:52 am Hi there i can`t get my head around why my Emu 0202 usb driver US-1-40-00 Beta out performs the Tascam us 2x2 usb Driver and Settings Panel v4.00

NB: E-Mu is a brand owned by Creative Labs/Technology - the Singapore people that brought us all SoundBlaster cards. Tascam is a brand owned by TEAC Corporation, famous for their 4-track cassette decks. They don't do work in common afaik.
If it works, then there's enough power.Headkneestoes wrote: Fri Mar 31, 2023 10:52 amthe tascam has a power inlet even though it is supposed to be powered by the usb but i dont have a dedicated power supply for it and i was wondering if this might help the tascam,i don`t` know if you can use the power supply and have it also powered by the usb at the same time. thanks
In other words: not related at all with the issue at hand.
