Plugin doctor doesn't decide anything. It's a tool you can decide how to use. It's pretty easy.
There is not only black and white, but also milions of colors in between.
I ear the differences about thd and aliasing, but have a deeper knowledge on how a plugin behave help to to do not waste time.

If you are happy with your workflow i'm not here to convincing you about something else, i'm just saying everyone have a different approach, and that's it with everything.

You simply don't get it.
It's a psychological thing and
not best focus on the topic as
many examples prove.
You will understand how a plugin
works simply by trying it on
different sources and simply
listening.
Yes, of course everyone has
a different approach and thus
different results.
I hope I will find that video with
Bernie Grundman, there's a part
with his opinion (and very good
explanation)
on anylyzing tools, schematics with
eq curves and software - hw comparisons.
And maybe his words at least will make you think of what it's really all about.

If something is psychological for you, doesn't mean that affect the same way other people.
We are all different. Someone get scared by spiders, others not at all. Same for music and plugin doctor.
It's the same with plugins GUI, that's why usually we see analog-like graphics, but you cannot really use a monitor with your eyes closed.

To me plugin doctor it's a tool that help to have a deeper understanding, it's an additional info, not a replacement for my ears or something that change my judgment, this is what i feel you are not getting. I never changed my mind on a plugin because of it, i usually listen and try plugins first, i make my own idea, and i like to guess what's happen, then with PD i see what's happen. I use few plugins that look bad on PD, but i like how they sounds in certain situation, cause if they work on certain sounds or genre, i use them cause people listen music with ears, i make music with ears, and that's where my judgment come.
But denying myself from have a better knowledge doesn't make any sense, cause sometime i.e. if i need a limiter/compressor for certain sounds/songs that need to be cleanest as possible, i'll go with the limiter/comp that it's cleaner, not because PD, but because i ear it. With PD i can just have a better understanding about what happen, but that's it.

I remember watching this YouTuber complain about the SSL Fusion (Hardware) because he brought it up in Plugin Doctor (seriously) and something weird was happening with the stereo image on the left channel (it has a stereo imaging effect on the actual hardware). His conclusion because of plug-in doctor was that the SSL Fusion wasn’t a good hardware master processor because of what he found in plugin doctor. Not because of how it sounded, but because plugin doctor showed “weird behavior” (which analog gear is known for).

After seeing something so ridiculous, I turn off anything to do with plugin doctor on YouTube. Not because it’s not a good tool, but the youtubers that are using it aren’t using it the way it’s intended.

If you open a plugin on a mix, and something just doesn’t sound right and you can’t put your finger on it, yeah Plugin Doctor is a great tool in that scenario to see what’s going on. But using it to see if plugins are good or not without first using your ears to see if it sounds good? That’s pretty stupid.

And to be fair I tried the plugin as well and it does indeed sound really good. SSL make some pretty great stuff IMO.
