Got a used Harley Benton G112 Celestion V30 for £30. Tried 2 tube amps with it, one was on the blink, the other (Carlsboro TC 60) sounded OK through it, better than the combo's Celestion speaker.
Tube amp woes, they both worked the last time I used them 6 months ago, are they worth the hassle? Tube amps have been nothing but a ball-ache for me.

Probably won't be able to resist picking up a few different models from Artist Guitars. They are serious bang for buck axes.

Customs finally got the grey slip out to me so now I can show off my early 2023 haul
Dreamcatcher is a 2-channel full-voltage tube preamp; channel 1 is roughly an Orange AD200B with a Fender tonestack (i.e. one class-A gain stage) while channel 2 uses the remaining 3 tube stages to make something a bit like a Soldano GTO (reducing 4 to 3 gain stages and adding a proper tonestack). These two make a nice contrast to the channels on my Kraken V4 preamp, which are a JCM900-ish mid-gain channel and tight-but-5150-ish high-gain channel, with what seems to be a more Marshall-y shared EQ. I'm not a good enough photographer to do justice to the rainbow sparkle finish.
Blue Monarch is a UK-made compact take on the boutique Bluesbreaker craze. I really like these little Fredric Effects enclosures and the build quality always seems good.
1-spot CS6 is needed to power the Dreamcatcher! (I have a Cioks DC7 on my main pedalboard but don't want to pull it apart every time I play around with other pedals...)

Been good so far this year but...
I had a mess around with a couple of Kingsley preamp pedals and I see what the fuss is about. Unfortunately there's a waiting list...
However, I've also been mucking about with Tonex and Neural Amp Modeler and I'm really impressed by both. Tonex has more models and is more polished at the moment but NAM is only at version 0.7 (I think) and it's free. Well worth spending time with. Now I just need to borrow a Matamp to model.
I'm kind of wondering if it's actually worth buying any more hardware (apart from guitars obviously)

Ordered a TC Electronic Plethora 3.

Funny, I was looking into maybe a boutique low-watt amp of some sort. My thought was it might be fun to have something to let loose on during the day. My wife got a job that brings her into the office, so it’s really the first time in a very long time that I could actually do that.resynthesis wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 2:12 pm Been good so far this year but...

Another part of me is thinking, “do you really need another heavy box with things like Tonex and NAM?” That’s not even considering I already have an AxeFX 3, which I love. I haven’t purchased Tonex yet because I know that as soon as I do, they’ll announce an add-on that I really want.

I recently picked up an Antares ATG-1 ("Auto-Tune for guitar") on a whim, not initially sure if it would be something I'd use frequently, and I'm happy to say I'm super into its pedal steel emulation features. Being able to use the expression pedal to bend the pitch of either a single string (like a B-bender) in either direction, or multiple selected strings is really fantastic, and opens up completely different phrasing options otherwise impossible on the average electric guitar. It's a shame Antares didn't manage to make a more affordable / better marketed version of this floor unit as I suspect plenty of guitarists would have enjoyed this effect if it had been more assessable.

I have heard good things about Boss Katana Bass and it sounds cool in Youtube videos too. So, think will buy it the next month.
I was reading one of the reviews now and it might be the right one for me - https://ampizer.com/review/boss-katana-bass-110/

Those Antares ATG-1 pedals seem really rare, especially the ones with that pedal steel option! I seen one come up not long ago on Reverb and I wondered if it was one that had that pedal steel option or not, maybe that’s the one you bought?tonesforchris wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 10:03 pm I recently picked up an Antares ATG-1 ("Auto-Tune for guitar") on a whim, not initially sure if it would be something I'd use frequently, and I'm happy to say I'm super into its pedal steel emulation features. I’ve been watching for those and for the Peavey AT guitars for some time, but those guitars seem to be broken in a lot of cases.
Some Peavey mixers still have Antares Auto Tune built in, and that new Headrush Prime floor modeling unit has ReValver and Antares Auto Tune included, so there must still be some Peavey tie going on there I guess.
Maybe Peavey or the Headrush guys (“inMusic”) could put out something like the ATG-1 — BUT, I think the problem with those earlier Antares guitar products, especially the Peavey guitar, was calling it “auto tune” — I know that’s what it is, but I think everyone automatically associated it with that stupid Gibson robot tuning thing — call it and spec it out as a pitch shifter/harmonizer [pitch corrected, polyphonic, multitimbral, intelligent…]!! I know the Auto Tune thing was and is still a buzzword for vocal recording, but it’s always going to put guitarists in mind of the robo-tuner BS when associated with guitar products I think.
Seems like it could be done even better and cheaper now, I always thought it would be cool if it had a hex pickup breakout feature, maybe with a mixer so you could send the bottom 2 strings to one rig and the rest to another, or whatever. Also should have 13-pin through, and midi control… hell, pitch to midi… pitch to CV while we’re dreaming big!
