For software I think the Arturia nails it best with Korg in second place.
For hardware I think the Korg Mini is great.

No offense to Cherry Audio since I have all of their synths but in the case of the MS20 I really think that their version is too polite and definitely does NOT scream as IMO it should. I have two hardware MS20s one of which is the Mini and those of course work as they should. The Mini's build is not as rock solid as I wish it were but take care with it and you should be okay.

k-2 for the price of many synth plugins? Wow I'm tempted. 499 for the behringer 2600 is also quite nice. It even has osc sync!

For 50 bucks extra, you can get the 2600 Blue Marvin special edition.
I would probably go for that one.

Matter of taste though. I personally dislike actual spring reverbs and prefer the panel on the standard 2600.

I concur. I think the blue 2600 makes it look cheap and toyish (oddly, I normally like blue), though the grey is OK. I can't think of any instance ever where I'd choose to use a spring reverb. I don't even use the pretend one on the standard B2600. I suppose a spring reverb could be useful for when you've absolutely lost all inspiration in the studio, you're sat twiddling your thumbs, got bored of throwing paperclips at the spiders in the corners of the room and want to while away some more time by hitting the 2600 and making it go "boing"?
