How are they sequencing?

Not really the sound, but as a fan of the sequenced parts of TDream's work, especially under Thorsten Quaesching, I'm curious how those parts are conceived. Do they write them? Press 'random' on an arpgeiator?
In this clip, at around 7 minutes, Thorsten reaches for the bank of gadgets behind him and starts activating a equenced part. But I can't see how he's programming notes or a pattern. Can someone explain how all this works. I've never used anything like this and wouldn' tknow where to start. Thanks

In principle with that much gear including a computer anything could be happening... But my best guess is:

The white rack unit with 16 knobs looks like a 16-step CV sequencer. I think this is sending a quantised pre-programmed note sequence to the bassline monosynth via MIDI. He does tweak a few notes here and there but they seem to stay on scale.

On top of that could be some arpeggiation linked to the pad synth. For example, the keyboard could play a polyphonic pad and also send MIDI to a synth module like Yarns that spits out arpeggiated analogue voltages to the synth. This doesn't need to be a very complicated or random pattern; if we add some more tempo-synced modulation in the synth patch and a good delay then the results will still sound complex.

And a 3/16th delay on the synthparts doesn't hurt either. Not even slightly.

It's a pure sequencer. It generates midi notes. It makes no sound on it's own. You'll need an external synthesizer for that.

It looks like he is tweaking a white Moog Minitaur, I'd assume that playing the bassline driven by the Schrittmacher
