sadly MAUL loads fine and seems to load the settings from my projects but i just cannot figure out why some projects sound different, e.g. a kick suddenly sounds more crunchy and loud, switching off MAUL and/or driving down the MIX button seems to get closer to my old mp3s, same goes for ETCH, these plugins work still and you can still activate them but they are not reliable it seems and yeah sadly also discontinued :/. i got Saturn 2 from fabfilter but either i use it wrong or it doesnt sound close to MAUL, it just doesnt sound so nice like MAUL. are there any comparable and great sounding multiband distortions? which offer many different distorion/saturation models? Rift is only 2 band and Ohmicide is awesome but sadly very old and tiny gui. thx

Love MAUL, but if you was using it multiband, you probably like the broken crossovers. They didn't sum the audio properly as they wasn't Linkwitz Riley compliant, nor made from allpass filters and they strangely never addressed this during its lifespan which was waaay before those ROLI muppets gobbled them up
I don't know any other multiband plugin with crossovers as rubbish as the ones in MAUL, so if you want that sound, try splitting audio with regular Butterworth filters. It will give you the same sound
If you are just talking about the sound of the algos themselves then ya right. There is nothing out there that sounds like MAUL or does what it does. Saturn certainly doesn't, Trash, Ohmicide, or any of the other usual waveshaper suggestions miss the mark by quite a margin. It was a special plugin for sure

If you have an issue, their customer service is terrible, but their stuff generally sounds very good.

thx so much guys, seems not really some alternatives yet, Audio Damage, i dont support them anymore.
Flatter, i need to check, never heard of it.
too bad MAUL and ETCH are not somehow bought up or something. but it is strange that they act 50:50 reliable so yeah i should move forward.

You could try Squashit from Klevgrand
and Kombinat Tri by Audio Damage
https://klevgrand.com/products/squashitA simple and effective interface let you tune in the perfect amount of distortion, on three different frequency bands.
and Kombinat Tri by Audio Damage
https://www.audiodamage.com/collections ... mbinat-triKombinat Tri features a DJ-style three-band isolator EQ for band-killing effects and extreme tone-carving on the front end. This leads to the three distortion engines, which can be run in crossover (multi) mode, or in series.

It's free and you can specify the number of bands.

You could always use something like Blue Cat's MB-7 to create a three-band crossover, then use any distortion on the bands that you'd like.
