Dear OSC Powers-That-Be (aka BJ and Richard),

I'm not one to beg, but I'm gonna lol.

It's still early.....is there anyway to get an "anything goes, no rules apply" (except maybe freebie only) kicker this month?

OctaSine is cool, but, it, I, maybe even we, could use a little extra somethin'! :D

Love,
Mike

Sorry for blowing up this thread lol.

Sounds good! I'm just hoping for some of the chains to be lifted :)

BRAMFX I really enjoyed both the demos, very reserved and nice sound, especially for FM.

I love music, worked with a number of music/rhythm/dance games like Pump It Up, In The Groove, Cytus and Deemo, and teach music production.

Here is my try, 15 instances of Octasine in ableton

External free plugins - VOS ThrillseekerXTC, ValhallaSupermassive, PeakEater (master limiter\clipper)
The rest are ableton's fx such as eq, comp, reverb, delay, saturator.

That's it!

TheNeverScene, what kind of effects are you wishing you could use for this challenge?

Up until now it's only been mixed on headphones ... I think the low end is already pretty well defined though. one or two rounds on speakers ... and that's gonna be it.
As I wrote previously - this track is not based on heavy use of automation ... it's sound design and my medicore attempts in mixing ... only one or two params of not so important sounds are modulated by a bitwig lfo outside of the synth. just saying because FM synths are prone to neuro-whatsoever-automation world record attempts ... last thing to mention ... it's fun to check out what you can make of the stereo signal path ... pan two modulators righ and left, set them up subtely different and let them modulate the same carrier...fun... anyways enjoy the track.

Sorry, thumbs down from me. The essence of OSC is in my eyes not to throw tons of expensive stuff on top of the synth when the synth itself is a little more challenging ...

Okay ... now I'm a little pissed ... I'm still on v0.8.3 but v0.8.5 released yesterday has this to say:
"Added: Add square, triangle and saw operator waveforms. "

Personally, I was hoping to use a free amp sim. Started a track and the direction it is going has me wanting some crunchy guitars. Everything is legal except the amp sim on the electric guitars. I'll have to go another route. Maybe the added waveforms in the updated version of OctaSine (haven't installed it yet) will get me in the ballpark.

@TheNeverScene: Damn, this already sounds awesome - even without "crunchy" guitars! How do you do this???

Unfortunately there is no AU version of the plugin and I'm normally using Logic Pro. I've got Octasine running within a wrapper plugin, but I'm not sure if this won't make things too complicated. Alternatively I could use Reaper, but I'm not very familiar with its MIDI / piano roll functions and workflow in general. We're gonna see...

My dog just woke me up, what a great track to hear the first thing in the morning! :D
I think most of us wouldn't mind hearing crunchy guitars thanks to an amp sim but if you win this month (which is very likely) there might be some drama and heated discussions… :dog: I hope the fx rules this month, this early in, will be changed and you can enter without any problems! :tu:

(It was I that gave you a thumbs up in your first post, prior to even hearing this )

Dude, this sounds amazing. Im a keyboardist mostly so i would say, instead of doing a hard crunchy guitar sound, add a super prog synth solo as the strawberry of the cake. XD
