Just visited UVI webpage and read about the latest 2.8 update features and at the bottom I read about the added features of the multi envelope ie drag/drop audio for brightness, transients and pitch".
Someone here experimented with these and want to share impressions and results or maybe ideas?

When is the next 30% off sale due?

Envelope ideas:
On my Neutron i patched a second envelope to the CV of the first. (Thru an attenuator) This is heady stuff. But its not just about "getting more segments", it can have a profound effect on playability. This setup can yield staccato or no sustain or a long release dependant on my articulation.
In Falcon allways sub-modulate the modulators i.e. the amount of one envelope with another.
Its what makes going thru a sound library so enjoyable ...the envelopes and how your hands use them

Definitely, modulating modulators (like env attack speed or lfo rate or gain) is a way to bump up movement in a piece. It is one of the reasons i got into electronics...into modular...into Reaktor. It's often easy (on many synths) to control the lfo gain or rate with a mod wheel and that is a simple example.

How are you guys using favorites in the preset browser? Is there any way to categorize them?

Once you move through a handful of libraries, the favorites list can get a little large and difficult to navigate.

I have 100's of sounds that I programmed that are a complete mystery to me. I have to reload them and try and remember what they do. If an AI were trained on the UVI file format plus the samples used I could ask it to give a list of all patches that use the Pluck oscillator or this or that script is running or any classification really. An Intelligent browser.
Obviously it is a blast to load stuff i "programmed" in Falcon 1.1 into Falcon 2.8

I don’t think you need AI for that - grep will do just fine.

There is an option, but it’s only practical for Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol controller owners: https://freelancesoundlabs.com/index.ph ... l-maschine

Here’s a cool workflow for making new sounds using any presets you have… and if you have the Sonic Pass, this could probably keep you busy for a couple lifetimes.

You build up your sound by mixing layers from presets using “load as layers,” then tweak from there. Here’s how it works:

1. Empty a part.
2. In tree view, right click the empty part and create a program.
3. Back in Parts view, double click the part to open the file browser.
4. Click on list view so you can see what happens from this point on.
5. Enable “load as layers” at the bottom of the file browser.
6. Double-click a preset, you’ll see its layers appear in the list.
7. Add / delete / tweak layers as you see fit.

I solo each layer, rename it if I like it, delete it if I don’t. Once I collect a couple layers, I tweak them one-by-one. Solo one and disable its effects to get to the base oscillator + modulation sound. Tweak envelope and volume LFOs. Get the layers sounding good together with this simple base. Then go through the effects, tweak / delete.

It’s a fast way of exploring new sounds, using expert sound designers presets as a basis. And for me, it’s fun :)

Plus with the layer switching rules it’s possible to make lots of variations / combinations and switch between them.

One of these days.

Maybe 3.0?

I wish I had Meteor, Asteroid, Drone and Woosh.
I'd put them into UVI Workstation for an initial exploration. See what that path leads to.
Only then would I load them into Falcon. I have never programmed a multi-sample anything in Falcon. One oscillator Scrub or Granular is all. What's the "gear lust" acronym GAS. I got it.
and the Pianos are on sale. ...and Sonic Pass is a thing. 8)
